ayo can i get a list of sitewide mods?

basically i think hes asking whether you are referring to me or dan or both

more broadly i don't just mean current mods but the whole year of tombot that imo poisoned the well and brought out a lot more discontent about the "get in there and mix it up and defend mod decisions" style of modding. even if noone's been nearly as bad since, i feel like it kinda set a bad tone on both ends of things.

i mean the haughty tone you guys often take is kind of that of elected officials facing a hostile muckraking media, which has started to feel increasingly ridiculous. the whole "grin and bear it, it's just a message board" attitude should cut both ways, which is to say i don't understand why anyone would take a thankless volunteer gig like modding if they didn't have the disposition to be really chill about it most of the time.

see but the only reason i get in and "defend" mod decisions is because i agree with them, not because im circling the wagons or anything. i have a ton of confidence in the current mods (mostly because i am one of them and i am awesome).

ideally all that personality and passion and bias that every poster has would be dropped when you put on the moderator hat. being able to pull that off is why i would never be a good mod.

and i think that sneaking bias in there is disingenuous, i dont think that has been a problem with any of the recent/current mods at all

I think that when someone makes a pretty straightforward statement and you don't like their word choice, accusing them of disingenuously sneaking words in comes off kinda weird.

yeah but pretty much every important mod action it does get filled out - i mean if i do a comedy yellow card, i dont bother, but if someone gets banned, im not going to leave it blank, and i think this is generally the case

This is bias. Two threads got locked and someone got banned and immediately you are on the defensive. Instead of accepting any criticism, you and Dan jump in with how the critics are wrong and we don't understand the system and anyway, you're passionate posters who get things right almost always and it isn't realistic to think otherwise.

Whereas you could say: yeah, we will try to stay on top of the log with legit reasons.

how in the world do you get bias out of that sentence? and how is that on the defensive?

what i said is that we do stay on top of the log with legitimate reasons - your problem is that you come into it assuming that we dont, and then decide that when i say that we already do list reasons on the log, i am somehow covering our tracks

all im saying bnw, and im not trying to be a jerk towards you, is that i think that if you go in with a predisposition towards "mods are doing bad things and wont admit it", anything i say to explain whats going on and why it isnt bad gets taken as a defensive position.
