so my modest proposal for mods is just to give a short explanation of mod actions explaining how a thread or poster has broken the rules or mores of ilx not of how offended they are

itd imo help people to understand mod actions and help the mods to think things through

jhos, cankles used up pretty much every vestige of mod goodwill with his last sitewide ban. The only reason he's still here is because an incredibly vocal contingent like him. I, personally, am not going to cry any tears if a moderator was less-than-unrufflable when dealing with him, particularly since his offenses are blatantly obvious to anyone with a passing grasp on how to be polite to someone else.

My contention is that it isn't about ANYTHING, which is why I said it was disingenuous. I'm sorry you got mad that WmC said "you need a break" instead of "banned for being a total asshole"; kind of don't know what more you want here.

i dont think joe "wants" anything; i think hes offering a tip to mods who are hoping to have smooth relations with posters going forward

i dont think hes wrong either. improved poster-mod relations recently i think have a lot to do with mods going out of their way to be fairly dispassionate instead of bitter rageaholics
