Interesting -- I really don't like FT's SnG structure, but the numbers don't lie -- my ROI and % In the Money are a LOT higher there than at PStars.
― WmC, Monday, 14 December 2009 02:35 (fourteen years ago) link
Yeah but on FT you're at least partly playing against the ILX ><)))'> posse.
― Mark C, Monday, 14 December 2009 12:25 (fourteen years ago) link
totally in -ve ROI territory :((
― I sb'ed your mum (ken c), Monday, 14 December 2009 12:27 (fourteen years ago) link
urgh. I'm on "tilt form" apparently: 4-7 straight losses, I'm told :\
― I sb'ed your mum (ken c), Monday, 14 December 2009 12:30 (fourteen years ago) link
Anybody played Rush Poker on FT? I never lost two buy-ins so fast.
― WmC, Thursday, 21 January 2010 17:00 (fourteen years ago) link
i donked around 50nl and won a little playing lol nit and calling weird flop overshoves (saw like a dozen of these ~1 hour of play)
generally h8 both ft and nlhe but it seems like a good way of shaking up lowstakes from dudes 24-tabling and set-mining
― Lamp, Thursday, 21 January 2010 17:05 (fourteen years ago) link
this is kind of fun but scary but yeah guess this suits you if you're a rock? (or a bot lol)
― The smile on my face, disguises the case, I bury the truth deep down in (ken c), Thursday, 21 January 2010 18:26 (fourteen years ago) link
im not sure how much more profitable this is for bots - i mean sure ure playing cards + position but most of the value is postflop - its not that abc isnt going to make u money but itll miss most of the value from ppl flatting 3bets pre and then valuetowning two pair
having put in another hour+ 4-tabling this is crazy fishy - dont know how long itll last but if u can stand the swings its p amazing - theyre adding plo8 apparently lol
― Lamp, Thursday, 21 January 2010 19:47 (fourteen years ago) link
Hmmm.
So maybe I am a NL player now, based on the last few days. (Yeah, small sample size.)

false alarm, 14/10,420 - but still, congrats!!

So recently taught myself, started playing a bit on games.com and seem to be pretty consistently dominating the rooms I play - can I assume anything about my poker ability from this? I mean I assume I should take no real stakes free rooms with a grain of salt but just wondering.

It's hard to gauge a skill level in play-money games against anyone except the people who play play-money games, which is a small subset of the whole. They're fun for getting a feel for the game, learning how to deal with tilt when some eeedjit playing 83o cracks your KK, learning how "flush draw = 4.1:1 underdog" actually applies in a live situatiion, etc
Time for you to sign up at Full Tilt and join us at the next ILX PWN CUP! (I don't know when that will be tbh.)

been on dire straits on fulltilt lately. may as well change my name to mr bubble.
― HOOS' THE BOSS (ken c), Sunday, 8 August 2010 22:20 (thirteen years ago) link
Last day in Vegas, finally played some cards. 2+2 message boards recommended the daily tourney @ Sahara -- good structure, soft. $45 + optional $20 rebuy. I think there were 19 or 20 @ the 11 am this morning? We played down to five and chopped. I can def. recommend. Just wait for a hand and get paid. After tipping tourney dealers I'm up $115 -- might play the 7 pm. W00t!
― Donovan Dagnabbit (WmC), Wednesday, 15 September 2010 22:06 (thirteen years ago) link
you should also try the tourneys at o'shea if you fancy some easy money.. usually just a single table full of tourists/students.
― HOOS' THE BOSS (ken c), Thursday, 16 September 2010 15:20 (thirteen years ago) link
oh this may be too late.
― HOOS' THE BOSS (ken c), Thursday, 16 September 2010 15:21 (thirteen years ago) link
I played the 7pm that night...made some loose/stupid calls, busted about 2 hrs in. But I was near the chip lead when the rebuy deadline came, so I passed on that and the tourney only cost $45. So I made $70 on that trip.
A++, will play more live poker.

whooohoo, after a flat October (up only 24 cents for the month), I won a 90-player SnG tonight. Love seeing those spikes on the bankroll chart.
― Unfrozen Caveman Board-Lawyer (WmC), Tuesday, 2 November 2010 03:59 (thirteen years ago) link
430% ROI so far this month
beats the Lipper Average iirc
― Unfrozen Caveman Board-Lawyer (WmC), Monday, 8 November 2010 22:06 (thirteen years ago) link
Having good success in 90-player tourneys, but once we reach heads-up, I'm terrible. Winning 14 buy-ins is great, but winning 22 would be greater. Advice on HU play? Would studying HU SnG strategy be the way to go, or is there a different strategy for the HU portion of a larger MTT?
― Unfrozen Caveman Board-Lawyer (WmC), Tuesday, 16 November 2010 16:42 (thirteen years ago) link
it would be although depending on what your leak(s) is you might be able to just do some work on your effective ranges vs. standard opponent types in sng wizard & u can avoid playing boring hu sngs.
even if you think youre playing loose you probably just are pushing wide enough fwiw ime

I'm sure this is the situation. I need to find a Mac equivalent of SnG Wiz.

Push/fold HU.

Running so bad lately...the club comes, gives me the ace-high flush...and gives the villain a straight flush. FUCK! A monthlong cooler has got me playing scared and defensive. Hate this game so much right now!

Anyone know any Online Poker sites that aren't rigged to give action hands like flushes, straights and full houses.
Please help me find one. I just want to play free games against other online users while using a fair deck.

Do ppl really have hard and heavy conversations during the poker meetup, or is it something they have people do during intense conversations during TV and movies so everyone has something to do with their hands/reason to be together & getting real?
― Stop Non-Erotic Cabaret (Abbbottt), Wednesday, 12 January 2011 04:06 (thirteen years ago) link
In most IRL games I've played in, you could've heard a pin drop 95% of the time.
No one really ever gets confrontational. Someone will pull some weird move and the guy on the spot will lean back and put his arms around his head.
And you're a dick if you even try wearing sunglasses.

Playing rational poker is fucking boring.
I've been at a .25/.50 LHE table for twenty minutes and only played two hands outside of checking on blinds, neither of which I should have (A-8 suited, K-6 suited)

Right on; those games are absolutely the best, and nowadays the only form of live poker I can stand, most games have so much awkwardness and ego that they just become unbearable; the 20-something backwards-hat sunglass-wearing type has just really grated on me lately

Uhh, no poker site is rigged for action (at least not the ones with a real money element); back in the PartyPoker days people used to argue this all the time when it made absolutely no sense since the poker sites do the best if NO ONE goes broke

Multitable or try a different game? How many playable hands do you expect to get in 20 minutes?
― Lt. Van Ice Cage (govern yourself accordingly), Monday, 7 March 2011 19:29 (thirteen years ago) link
yeah when playing live the social interaction is what keeps it interesting, online I usually play like 16-20 tables so you can do at least 4

guys. want to get a weekly fulltilt game going again?

Def up for it. Also Lorax, it's the noobs and fish who think online poker's rigged. Hope you join our game ;)

Since the last ILX tourney, Stars has created Home Games...we could set up an ILX Home Game and have more flexibility about times/buyins/formats.
― WmC, Tuesday, 8 March 2011 16:17 (thirteen years ago) link
yeah i was thinking the same thing, I dont really know much about it but the home games thing seems to cover a lot of bases

I think Washington (state, not DC) is the only place that has banned online poker? It's not illegal to play, there are just some tricks to putting $$$ in yr acct and cashing out.

how does this star thing work? i can set up a stars account then maybe.. is there a rakeback thing for stars?
