I would love to have that drawing framed on my living-room wall.

Eazy, Friday, 7 December 2007 22:03 (sixteen years ago) link

the perspective on that thing is kkkkeeerazy

n/a, Friday, 7 December 2007 22:06 (sixteen years ago) link

like if you look in the foreground and you imagine that those tubes are sitting on the surface of the street instead of under the street but for some reason the people inside are half as tall as the people outside, and suddenly it's an m.c. escher painting

n/a, Friday, 7 December 2007 22:07 (sixteen years ago) link

I like the two women in matching outfits on the sidewalk.

Eazy, Friday, 7 December 2007 22:10 (sixteen years ago) link

And those trees must be 50 feet tall.

Eazy, Friday, 7 December 2007 22:11 (sixteen years ago) link

A 50 foot tree is not unlikely, is it?

Jesse, Friday, 7 December 2007 22:17 (sixteen years ago) link

later gators, i'm going home and going to bed.

chicago kevin, Friday, 7 December 2007 22:44 (sixteen years ago) link

Going home and going to bed ruined my Friday night... I'm sorry I didn't make it out, guys.

dan m, Saturday, 8 December 2007 17:25 (sixteen years ago) link

50 foot tree is likely. Here's a real photo of that station.

I have to be far away from Ronny's 'til 11 or midnight, so I may have to miss the extravaganza tonight, alas alas.

Eazy, Saturday, 8 December 2007 17:42 (sixteen years ago) link

:-(

gbx, Saturday, 8 December 2007 18:44 (sixteen years ago) link

i had a great time last night, thanks everyone that helped me celebrate!

any idea about the timing of the show tonight? we'd like to come but are both exhausted and so knowing when everyone is on would help with planning...

colette, Saturday, 8 December 2007 18:47 (sixteen years ago) link

Thanks for having us over! I'm really glad that I was able to make it because I had a grand time.

Jesse, do you remember this?

show starts at 9 - 9:30ish, spectacles play first, then sharks, then us, with poem2song and magic in between sets i think? i like all the bands playing tonight so i would tell people to get there early but my guess is sharks will start around 10-10:30ish and we'll start about an hour after that?

n/a, Saturday, 8 December 2007 19:43 (sixteen years ago) link

I do remember that! I have a video of that day too! Let's eat 'shrooms again soon. You're got a lawyering job now, it'll be fine.

Attn: lawyers

Some of my coworkers and I have questions about collective bargaining and NICA (Nat'l Independent Contractor Association). We are....disgruntled.

gbx, Saturday, 8 December 2007 22:06 (sixteen years ago) link

C-I'm sorry I didn't make it to the party last night, many happy congratulations! N & S, no chance you guys are going on earlier than 11:30ish, is there? I promise I'll make it one of these days, but I have a 11:30 call at the Playground. boo.

sisut, Saturday, 8 December 2007 22:26 (sixteen years ago) link

wow, i just did a crossword with "stereolab", "ween", and "rilo" (kiley) as answers. actually i've never heard rilo kiley, but that one shows up in puzzles all the time.

uh, jk?

Jesse, Sunday, 9 December 2007 09:54 (sixteen years ago) link

My last crossword had RILO in it.

And I just did a new one, but I have to wait until tomorrow morning before I can import it into Crossword Weaver (which is only available for PC).

jaymc, Sunday, 9 December 2007 22:03 (sixteen years ago) link

Jesse, I can't tell if you're actually annoyed by the crossword puzzle talk on this thread or not. You've made a couple comments that make me think you are, but maybe I'm just reading into it too much.

jaymc, Sunday, 9 December 2007 22:10 (sixteen years ago) link

Earlier all I said was that I was surprised that there wasn't a crossword thread. And then when I wrote STFU, I was drunk and utterly unreasonable.

Jesse, Monday, 10 December 2007 05:25 (sixteen years ago) link

And I wanted to use the abbreviation "srsmt" b/c I thought it was clever.

IS THIS, OR IS THIS *NOT* THE BEST CHRISTMAS CARD YOU'VE EVER SEEN???

(despite my crappy scan of it, and the sloppy redaction of the phone number)

= Serieusement?

Eazy, Monday, 10 December 2007 13:36 (sixteen years ago) link

Good morning!
How was the show last night, Eric? I ended up not leaving the apartment once yesterday. I didn't even open the door!

So what did you do it on?

Jordan, Monday, 10 December 2007 15:11 (sixteen years ago) link

I fulfilled my xword fantasy yesterday. :) It involved the NYT puzzle, for one thing.

Jordan, Monday, 10 December 2007 15:23 (sixteen years ago) link

i think that's supposed to be notated with :) :) :) jordan.

chicago kevin, Monday, 10 December 2007 15:25 (sixteen years ago) link

Jordan, Monday, 10 December 2007 15:32 (sixteen years ago) link

but for real, actually finishing that puzzle took alllll day, and some community assistance.

Jordan, Monday, 10 December 2007 15:33 (sixteen years ago) link

sorry, i'll stop braggin' 2007.

also i watched disc 1 of the Wire season 4 and i'm obsessed all over again. i almost bought the box just so i wouldn't have to wait until later this week for netflix to send more, but it was $50.

Jordan, Monday, 10 December 2007 15:46 (sixteen years ago) link

i did not step foot in a bar this weekend for the first time in a while. and apparently i missed a good time up at HC thursday night. "dancers", coked out millionaires, puking.... sounds like it had it all.

chicago kevin, Monday, 10 December 2007 15:49 (sixteen years ago) link

That is indeed a great Xmas card.

kenan, Monday, 10 December 2007 15:54 (sixteen years ago) link

^^^ ditto. we watched all of disc 1 last night. so good. it's kind of crazy how many characters they have at this point, though it's not too hard getting caught back up again. i had totally forgotten about the excon/boxing instructor guy.

n/a, Monday, 10 December 2007 15:56 (sixteen years ago) link

i think am going to make Ye Olde River Wolf chili soon (possibly for an informal chili battle). if anyone else has a good chili recipe, pls share!

xpost, cutty!

Jordan, Monday, 10 December 2007 16:01 (sixteen years ago) link

there have to be like 10 plotlines going right now, huh?

n/a, Monday, 10 December 2007 16:02 (sixteen years ago) link

i would try and list them all but i would probably piss somebody off

n/a, Monday, 10 December 2007 16:03 (sixteen years ago) link

i told a teacher about the Wire and she was skeptical (thought it would be on some Dangerous Minds shit). then i showed her the classroom scenes from episode 3 and totally won her over.

i know, right?

Jordan, Monday, 10 December 2007 16:03 (sixteen years ago) link

THE WIRE SPOILER ALERT

current plotlines:
1. mayoral race
2. prez becomes a teacher
3. excon/boxing instructor guy
4. bodie's weak renegade corner
5. wiretap unit going after marlo
6. ex-police guy helping college study young offenders
7. new group of young kids (dookie, ponytail kid, randy, et al)
8. omar
9. bald white dude working as security for the mayor
10. drug kingpin consortium trying to get marlo to help crack down on NY dealers
11. mcnulty is settled down/bunk and other homicide dudes (neither of these is really a full plot line at this point so I counted each as half)

n/a, Monday, 10 December 2007 16:08 (sixteen years ago) link

obv. some of those are bigger than others, and there's a lot of overlap

n/a, Monday, 10 December 2007 16:09 (sixteen years ago) link

I've seen a handful of episodes from the first season so none of that means anything to me. It is one of those shows I will probably watch in its entirety in a furious month of Netflixing/torrenting, someday.
