What do you cook?

sarahel, Thursday, 19 November 2009 21:27 (fourteen years ago) link

Usually vegetables. A meat will be hamburger, stew meat cut smaller or chicken legs. Every three months or so I'll buy a package of sausage. Usually, if I'm not cooking the chicken, which takes forever, I'll grease the skillet with a splash of soy sauce over the vegetables, but they're the only things I worry about sticking. Sometimes I make legitimate stew.

stew is pretty tasty.

sarahel, Thursday, 19 November 2009 21:31 (fourteen years ago) link

I don't usually add spices, though if I run out of soy sauce I'll add maybe paprika, cumin and coriander.

bamcquern, Thursday, 19 November 2009 21:32 (fourteen years ago) link

Stew is too filling and it can be urpy.

bamcquern, Thursday, 19 November 2009 21:32 (fourteen years ago) link

I've been meaning to ask you what "urpy" means.

sarahel, Thursday, 19 November 2009 21:32 (fourteen years ago) link

Makes you feel like you're going to burp, or you do so.

bamcquern, Thursday, 19 November 2009 21:33 (fourteen years ago) link

got it - granola with dried fruit in greek yogurt is currently what i want for lunch.

sarahel, Thursday, 19 November 2009 21:33 (fourteen years ago) link

I would eat that. Well, I don't like dried fruit that much, except strawberries sometimes. I like real fruit fine. Dried fruit can taste too sweet, especially those apricots.

bamcquern, Thursday, 19 November 2009 21:34 (fourteen years ago) link

yeah actually - now that you mention it - that was my one complaint yesterday - the dried fruit was too sweet - yogurt covered pretzels are good to balance it out.

sarahel, Thursday, 19 November 2009 21:38 (fourteen years ago) link

Yes they are.

bamcquern, Thursday, 19 November 2009 21:39 (fourteen years ago) link

i had a cheeseburger last night - i realized i had not had a burger with beef in over a decade.

An ice cream maker would be a fun thing to have.

sarahel, Monday, 23 November 2009 19:48 (fourteen years ago) link

I have one. I left it in Knoxville. My best ice cream was pomegranate with chocolate flakes. My second best was a savory green tea.

bamcquern, Monday, 23 November 2009 19:55 (fourteen years ago) link

Pomegranate w/chocolate sounds great. I've had that before - it used to be in the same freezer where the chipotle (or chile) ice cream was.

the soon-to-be-ex really likes ice cream, and my mom offered to get us an ice cream maker for christmas one year, and i thought it would be fun, but he didn't.

sarahel, Monday, 23 November 2009 20:08 (fourteen years ago) link

unfortunate, indeed

Shackleton Crater (jdchurchill), Monday, 23 November 2009 20:13 (fourteen years ago) link

yeah, but now that we're breaking up, i could get an ice cream maker and no longer have to concede to his determinations of what would be fun or not.

sarahel, Monday, 23 November 2009 20:17 (fourteen years ago) link

Shackleton Crater (jdchurchill), Monday, 23 November 2009 20:26 (fourteen years ago) link

also - fun thing to invite friends over to do - could experiment with liqeur-based flavors as well. Chambord ice cream might be good.

This is really going too far.

I was only able to eat half of my al pastor burrito last night. I only started eating meat again in the past couple years, after having been vegetarian (plus seafood) for a long time, and so I always forget that a burrito with meat in it is more filling than one without meat.

i just got a spam email from "Steve Funyon" - one of my coworkers at a job i used to have had an obsession with Funyons.
