All I know is that obsessions with the Count of Monte Cristo can get you through some grueling times in boyprison. But that's because I don't know anything that isn't from the movie Sleepers.

If that were true, I guess I'd hate women, actually, because they'd all be Minnie Driver.

Horace, I kiss you.

luna (luna.c), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 19:04 (twenty years ago) link

you call 30 minutes a quick wank? you self-indulgent madman!

Huckleberry Mann (Horace Mann), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 19:05 (twenty years ago) link

(Actually I'm just in a kissing mood - I kiss you all. Again.)

luna (luna.c), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 19:05 (twenty years ago) link

xpost, obv
dbble xpost now

Huckleberry Mann (Horace Mann), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 19:06 (twenty years ago) link

I'm having the "getting back into ILX after a break of about one week" problem too. It's better today than it was yesterday, but there's so much dumb shit on here. And no, I don't think ILX is "getting worse," I just think my tolerance has gone down.

NA (Nick A.), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 19:09 (twenty years ago) link

I was just talking about something like that off-board, but I don't want it to sound like I'm steering this in a "we're so cliquey, oh so cliquey, ILE all sucky bad" direction. I think a good chunk of things is that it's December and things are worn out and worn thin, here there and everywhere.

Tep (ktepi), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 19:11 (twenty years ago) link

Well, I've got so much stuff going on in my personal life too, like moving and packing and apartments and selling my car and etc etc, and ILX just seems less interesting/relevant in contrast. And people I like aren't posting as much.

NA (Nick A.), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 19:13 (twenty years ago) link

Well, that and I think teaching has eaten up most of my desire for a lot of kinds of conversations, the way working at a movie theater probably means you get sick of hearing people talk about the Matrix, or whatever.

xpost -- yeah, there's always that, too. When I moved, I was too busy to notice the lack of ILE.

Tep (ktepi), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 19:14 (twenty years ago) link

No, no, much like the 30-minute wank, being into ILX is a momentum thing, made easier when you keep yourself unaware that there's a great big world out there waiting for you.

Casuistry (Chris P), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 19:14 (twenty years ago) link

I'm just imagining the fantasy worlds Chris conjures up in his head in order to fuel these 30 minute wanks. It's like the Matrix!

Tep (ktepi), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 19:16 (twenty years ago) link

Dammit, I KISS YOU ALL.

luna (luna.c), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 19:17 (twenty years ago) link

But without chicks in tight leather outfits.

NA (Nick A.), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 19:17 (twenty years ago) link

Why the FUCK do I end up posting that right after someone's said something about masturbation?

luna (luna.c), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 19:18 (twenty years ago) link

Hello all. I've been reading less and less of ilx as well, there's just so much and I've just reached a tired-and-headachy level that makes it all seems a little overwhelming.

I wish I was one of those people who could keep a positive outlook on things no matter what is going on.

Me too sometimes. Though some people tell me that's how I am. I was on the phone with a longtime friend once and he said it was amazing how cheery I was all the time. I started crying and told him it wasn't so true. He couldn't hear me crying and went on to talk about how I always had a smile on my face.

My dad is getting major surgery next week. My parents have made it seem like nothing until the other day. Now something that had been made to seem minor is this huge thing with possible paralysis and shit. I talked to him the other day and he said it was about time they fixed his neck. I wanted to express concern, tell him I care about him, all of that, but with his attitude it's really hard to. It's like I can't get to the actual personal side of him. Despite the severity of what's going on with him, I just get a feeling that he'll be okay though. I hope I'm right.

In other news, I got some dark chocolate from the doc's office today and dark chocolate may be the BEST THING EVER.

Woop woop.

JuliaA (j_bdules), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 19:20 (twenty years ago) link

But without chicks in tight leather outfits.

or maybe there's lots of 'em, and that's how he lasts half an hour. Just like I might think about baseball.

Huckleberry Mann (Horace Mann), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 19:21 (twenty years ago) link

Baseball?

JuliaA (j_bdules), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 19:22 (twenty years ago) link

best wishes for your dad and yr family, Julia.

xpost, it's a cliche that men think about baseball during s-e-x to, y'know, prolong the magic for their partner's benefit, unless of course their partner says something tender and the male responds with "Steeeeeeee-rike!" then the magic is not prolonged.

Huckleberry Mann (Horace Mann), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 19:23 (twenty years ago) link

That's why other sports always seem wussy to me, incidentally. No cheerleaders in baseball, cause we don't friggin need em.

That wasn't much related to anything anyone's said except "baseball" and "chicks in tight... outfits."

Tep (ktepi), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 19:23 (twenty years ago) link

Do you guys last just a few minutes in bed, too?

Casuistry (Chris P), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 19:24 (twenty years ago) link

And good luck, Julia -- any doctor's office that gives out dark chocolate is truly a magical doctor's office, so that's bound to be a good omen.

Tep (ktepi), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 19:25 (twenty years ago) link

yay! kisses!

Kingfish Beefstick (Kingfish), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 19:25 (twenty years ago) link

Men usually masturbate with the goal of coming quickly (although women are faster). I'm not offering anecdotes, I just live in the same town as the Kinsey Institute.

Tep (ktepi), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 19:26 (twenty years ago) link

What is with the kisses and the masturbation today? They're like magnets, or pigeons.

Tep (ktepi), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 19:26 (twenty years ago) link

I used to live in the same town as a rasin bran factory, but I couldn't tell you why two scoops are better than one really big scoop!

Huckleberry Mann (Horace Mann), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 19:27 (twenty years ago) link

I'm glad pigeons don't work like magnets.

Casuistry (Chris P), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 19:28 (twenty years ago) link

but I couldn't tell you why two scoops are better than one really big scoop!

That's why you can't go thirty minutes!

*mwah*

JuliaA (j_bdules), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 19:29 (twenty years ago) link

I'm just in a kissing mood, what can I say? (I suppose I could say I'm in a masturbating mood, too, but really, that's not news, and I'm at work, so barring special circumstances, it ain't happening. Maybe I should go back to being productive and stop talking so much...)

luna (luna.c), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 19:29 (twenty years ago) link

SEE? Just like pigeons!

Tep (ktepi), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 19:31 (twenty years ago) link

You keep your pigeons away from me, Binky

luna (luna.c), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 19:33 (twenty years ago) link

Also Horace, good luck. Get in there and kick a little ass. Or a big one.. you know, whatever's handy.

luna (luna.c), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 19:33 (twenty years ago) link

No no, I meant the masturbation and the kisses.

Tep (ktepi), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 19:34 (twenty years ago) link

Dad's are like that, Julia. I'm betting it's just a facade, though, and if you 'made the first move' he'd love it. Or he'd freak out and not know how to respond. Um, forget I said anything. Hope his surgery goes well, though.

oops (Oops), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 19:38 (twenty years ago) link

He tends to freak out. I've tried telling him I love him, and there's just an awkward silence. So I told him I'm thinking about him, and just hoping that he knows how much I care and all of that.

Thanks for the good wishes.

And good luck with the job stuff, Horace.

JuliaA (j_bdules), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 19:41 (twenty years ago) link

H., don't be afraid to jump on your boss's desk and stump a thrilling speech about the rights of the little guy. Don't worry, strings will swell behind you, they always do.

Casuistry (Chris P), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 19:41 (twenty years ago) link

The ironing, etc...

Oh ew. It wasn't one, you pervert.

luna (luna.c), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 19:56 (twenty years ago) link

There were raised voices, (own)chest-thumping, and if I was still a smoker, I'm sure I would have hyperventilated. But once the dust settled, I'm free to f/l to them should I desire, which occassionally, I might, but really, it's time to grow up and burn down the farm.

Huckleberry Mann (Horace Mann), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 20:05 (twenty years ago) link

Oh right, *I'm* the pervert around here, you wannabe-wanksta.

oops (Oops), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 20:05 (twenty years ago) link

Booyah.

NA (Nick A.), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 20:06 (twenty years ago) link

NA (Nick A.), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 20:06 (twenty years ago) link

So, in other words, you quit?

Casuistry (Chris P), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 20:08 (twenty years ago) link

I said that my efforts would be best applied elsewhere.

Huckleberry Mann (Horace Mann), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 20:10 (twenty years ago) link

Well that sounds coy.

Casuistry (Chris P), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 20:11 (twenty years ago) link
