Anything from his 1st album up to "Jehovahkill" r0x0r. Tread carefully (or buy from bargain bin) thereafter.

I like just about any ART rekkid except for "New Age Of Earth" which just doesn't make it for me somehow, and that shit live in Japan thing where they fucked over their holy musick by putting raver kiddie fours over it. Fuck that shit. Yeah, fucking bin it, who the fuck wants to hear ash ra tempel with "fours" banging away. Wankers.

Who has that 6CD set from the '90's with all those early '70' freakouts on it? That was fucking great!!

hahahaha, Norm you rule!!!

I have that 6 disc set, there is some pretty insane stuff on there. I had to chuckle when I first listened to the FIFTY MINUTE early 70s thing on there and it FADED OUT at the end!! Like, just how much longer did they continue?? The mind boggles.

Last year Harald released a "Synthesist 2010" cd. Still waiting for my copy to arrive.

Manuel has remastered and re-issued the first five Ash Ra Tempel albums and Inventions For Electric Guitar on CD. I emailed him several weeks ago, and Manuel said that they will eventually be available on CDbaby. They're also now available at his website.

five years pass...

I just heard about the live lp by Ash Ra Tempel Experience which was recorded in Melbourne in 2015. Manuel Gottsching was apparently booked to play a festival so got in contact with other people playing to become a pick up band.
It has Ariel Pink on bass and vocals, Shags Chamberlain on vocals and Oren Ambarchi on drums.
So I'm wondering how well it works as an lp.
Looks like the combo toured several festivals at the time. There are live clips up from London and Switzerland on youtube

don't remember hearing about that but may just not be remembering, have done other things in the last 4 years.

That first Ash Ra Tempel album has an aura of mystery around it - it's not even clear how they're producing all the sounds. On top of that, it turns out that he was a teenager when he made it, just like 2/3 of Tangerine Dream at the time of Zeit.

Halfway there but for you, Monday, 12 December 2022 18:56 (one year ago) link

yeah that album is absolutely wild. wish I could find a copy. haven't really connected with the others up until you get to New Age of Earth and so on.
