One DJ at our college dance parties was fond of playing "Tainted Love" 45 at 33 rpm. People danced alright.

That'd be closer to the coil version, wouldn't it? er maybe if you played the 45 at say 16 rpm..

As for the Eartha Kitt/Joy Division thing - regardless of whether you meant that to be a joke, Martin, that sounds awesome. I'm about to put Closer on at 45...report coming soon.
