this might stand a chance of being a good idea if you moved the deadline back to say, Christmas or New Years.

Uploaded: Tape Store's 'i've never been to a dance club, but i bet it sounds like this' Mix

Note: All mashups by Tape Store on Saturday, Sept. 29 (with the exception of Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin's "Bigger Than Yr Yard (Tape Store remix)"

I used Audacity for the whole thing. Thanks to zshare.net and other sharing sites. Also, thanks to the Australian programmers who created Switch.

My name is Chris. This only explains ten seconds of the mix. Do I need a tracklist? It's more fun without it...

Tape Store, Saturday, 29 September 2007 23:00 (sixteen years ago) link

I just skimmed my way through Jane Eyre. Grace Poole not killing Jane = ;_;

A little over 60 minutes over various minimal house/techno and that sort of thang. Made with DSS DJ Which is essentially a Traktor clone but with less bells and whistles. I made a cover, but not out of boredom. I mixed this in the beginning of September, but nevertheless I'm banking on it to win me fame and or fortune.

I think I just picked out my records, now to find time to record. It's too late in the evening now. I'm stating this to make sure I follow through with it. It's going to change your lives. Or not at all.

dan selzer, Saturday, 6 October 2007 04:08 (sixteen years ago) link

I was really excited about my mix a week ago, but it sounds duddish now. I'll probably get a program and create something better.

Tape Store, Saturday, 6 October 2007 04:28 (sixteen years ago) link

Inspired by this thread I made a new software mix with varied stuff I've been playing this year. Being mostly psychedelic trance I doubt it wins the competition, it may annoy the jury.

Starts darkish and minimal, progresses to a melodic climax and comes down a bit emotional.

Thanks for listening!

I did mine this afternoon. Kinda eclectic, kinda fun, some wonky mixes but what are you gonna do. I'd been promising myself (and others) I was going to record a series of mixes for a year or two now but kept putting it off. This was fun and hopefully will inspire me to record those mixes as well. Hope you enjoy and let me know what you think.

oh yeah.

Equipment used: 2 Technics SL1200 mk2s, a Rane TTM56i mixer, Sennheiser HD-280 Pro headphones, recorded directly to Audacity free audio software on a Mac G5 using a Mark of the Unicorn 828 mk 2 interface. In Audacity, I made 1 edit to fix a really messed up mix that I had recorded twice while recording the mix live (picked up the needle and redid the mix then edited out the flubbed take) and I fixed some volume issues. Please excuse any digital distortion, I didn't set my levels well.

Dan, is that "For Those Who Like to Groove" sometimes known as the "Hollywood Sweat Mix"? I've been playing that quite a bit lately. Looking forward to listening.

Spencer Chow, Monday, 15 October 2007 07:46 (sixteen years ago) link

Hollywood Sweat Mix is the mix right after the one I played. I'll have to listen again to see what the difference is. There's 2 other versions on this 12, and 2 versions of a pretty awesome song called Lyrical Rundown, which is less hip-house and more hip-hop.
