definitely. pailhead is probably the only thing i listen to on waxtrax anymore. anymore = "since 1990." though that divine cd was kind of a nightmare and i occasionally want to hear "supernaut."
The Stone Breath version of that song is a total mindfuck.
my girlfriend sings on that!

should i get the black box comp? or is there a better one? wax trax discogs page is fairly impenetrable
― rio (r1o natsume), Tuesday, 3 February 2009 22:04 (fifteen years ago) link
I like Black Box because it showcases a bit more of the early history when the label had no plan or mission at all. On the other hand, it showcases the ass end of the Al-J.-owned era, too.
The label then got really interesting once Al J sold his shares of the label, and the label didn't fall back into the whole Electronic Body Music Class of 1989. Then the label died.
So, I'd get Black Box if it's really cheap. It's hit/miss. One could do a better Wax Trax! comp of the "Wax Trax! sound" years though.. like 1983-1989.
Anyone want to create a label playlist here?

off the top of my head:
Ministry "Halloween Remix"Front 242 "Headhunter v1.0"My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult "A Daisy Chain 4 Satan"KMFDM "More And Faster"Acid Horse "No Name No Slogan"Revolting Cocks "No Devotion"Pailhead "Man Should Surrender"PTP "Rubber Glove Seduction"Greater Than One "I Don't Need God"

Oh yeah, 1000 Homo DJs "Supernaut"
Basically, get the Ministry "Side Trax" compilation, and this covers much of the best of Wax Trax! in the 'prime' years.

Funnily enough, Jim always insisted that he was not putting out "dance music".
xpost * anyone know the whereabouts of Andy Dunkley? Tell him his friends in Chicago miss him.

I have written it on another thread, but I think Lard's "The Last Temptation of Reid" has the only songs Jello Biafra sung that I really liked by him outside the Dead Kennedys (although I have read good things on the album with the Melvins).
Forkboy is a great tune, one of Jourgensen and Barker's best. It won't ever happen unless you put it together yourself, but if there was a 'greatest hits' that went between all of those guys projects on one or two CDs, it would be really fantastic and would probably best some up their music.
I never could listen to their CDs front to back, but KMFDM's "A Drug Against War" was one I always liked.

A bit late to the original CD/SD, but: destroy Psykosonik. Cringworthy JACK YOUR MEAT INTO CUBESPACE sub-sub-Gibson lyrics, and one of them went on to be this waste of skin.

I really recommend the Wax Trax documentary that came out not too long ago. Just saw it and it made me appreciate this scene/sound I once took for granted, in part because I got here more or less as the label started its decline. Some great clips. Here's a trailer:
