Zing Touch: ILX now ON IPHONE (and ipod tooches too)

I am posting from Zing Touch.

Im sure I am just dense but what are the diffs btwn the paid and free zinger? I need to update my tooch sw before i can even use this anyway.

There is also the buy-Stet-a-pint version, Zing Touch, which is £4.99/$7.99 and will probably get new features first. Right now they are identical, except for some wee ads in Zing Lite.

Oh, and I got it direct from the ON IPHONE app store.

Featurerequests: reordering of boards in the board list, so I can drag my favourites to the top. And those little filled-or-hollow bullet points that tell me whether there are new posts in a thread.

I will, happily, because just yesterday I figured out how to do screenshots on an iPhone: as you hold the home button at the bottom, press the sleep button on top. It saves a screenshot to your photoroll, which you can then email to yourself and upload to tinypic.

Oops, I didn't see stet's post just above with the link to screenshots. Yeah, it basically looks like that. The only main difference is that pictures don't appear in the thread - you have to click on the individual posts to see them. Which is actually fine, because it makes picture heavy threads load a lot faster.

Again, great work Stet, this is going to make goofing off on ILX waaaaay easier at work now. :)

Thank you! Yeah, it's never done the images inline -- the performance would be really horrible and slow. I might look at doing an image browser like in Facebook for picture threads, though.

One thing I'd request; a white background on the app logo. It'd look so much nicer on my screen.

yep, have landscape keyboard working already, also the full set of bbcode will be in 1.1. I've got a few other fixes, but I couldn't upload them while it was in review without losing my place in the queue. App store is frustrating as hell.

any chance we could get archiving of bookmarks for offline browsing?

you could just use instapaper for all yr offline bookmarkin needs - i find myself using it more than safari these days

Tracer: does it need to save whereever you are, or can it just remember if you're reading a thread or in the middle of compose. I've been trying to save state, but it's a bit tricky as the server can completely change between launches, and threads that were there have dropped off new answers.

Archiving of bookmarks is a good idea actually -- then you could bookmark a post before getting on the subway or w/e, and the whole thing'd be there on the phone. Or I could add in Instapaper integration.

Hi, can’t find it anywhere, but I’m having triuble with Zing— none of my bookmarks are working, tho I’m logged in and so forth. It appears to be attempting to load them but then I get the ! inside a triangle symbol. Any help appreciated!

I had that. Logging out of Zing and in again helped, though it still doesn’t seem to be syncing bookmarks between Zing and web as reliably as it was.

has zing been delisted from the apple app store? just tried to install zing ON (new) IPHONE and can’t seem to find it anymore

same here. funnily enough I had a problem with the app some time last month and removed it. it was still in the store then or I wouldn’t be here now (perish the thought)

Sorry about that – I need to pay Apple yearly to stay on the store, and they had an expired credit card on file. Should be back shortly!
