ha, my account at audiofarm got deleted for inactivity or something a long long time ago. I'm just as much in pursuit of one now as you guys are. sorry!

dan I., Saturday, 14 May 2005 17:29 (nineteen years ago) link

Not sure what's on Audiofarm. Is it like this:

hxxp://dhawaii.mine.nu:6969/

Chewshabadoo (Chewshabadoo), Sunday, 15 May 2005 20:13 (nineteen years ago) link

thank you leee

kyle (akmonday), Sunday, 15 May 2005 20:22 (nineteen years ago) link

Chewshabadoo, that dhawaii site has a pop-up box that keeps asking for a password! I think that you posted the address on ILE once and I had the same problem then.

Audiofarm mainly consists of samples, hosts and vst instruments and fx, all cracked.

Before anyone asks - I don't have invites. Sorry.

Raw Patrick (Raw Patrick), Sunday, 15 May 2005 20:55 (nineteen years ago) link

Kyle, did I do something?

Le (Leee), Monday, 16 May 2005 01:56 (eighteen years ago) link

the i50hunt tip above helped out

kyle (akmonday), Monday, 16 May 2005 02:02 (eighteen years ago) link

Ah -- but actually, I checked some shows on i50hunt, and they've switched some of them to new backup trackers that seem to be functioning.

Le (Leee), Monday, 16 May 2005 02:19 (eighteen years ago) link

I'll look into it when I get home.

Yeah, the dhawaii signup asks for a password here too.

Dan I. (Dan I.), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 17:00 (eighteen years ago) link

not as good as audiofarm probably, but since y'all and I are screwed on that front, this is prob the next best thing

Dan I. (Dan I.), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 17:01 (eighteen years ago) link

and of course now it looks like it's down. Well it was up last night, so I think it'll be back!

Dan I. (Dan I.), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 17:02 (eighteen years ago) link

Thanks Dan! Actually that doesn't compare badly to Aud!ofarm, which I'm not a member of but don't have any invites for. There's less sample sets on aud!onews but it looks about as good for VST/i (based on cursory inspection.)

Raw Patrick (Raw Patrick), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 17:44 (eighteen years ago) link

also you guys you guys DC++ hubs oh yeah.

thanks. that one i had. any more?

kingfish maximum overdrunk (Kingfish), Friday, 20 May 2005 03:47 (eighteen years ago) link

I checked out Dhawaii, and you can only get to the signup page if you are already logged in! Strange...

I just had a thought that maybe I can create a new account. I'll check tomorrow when I'm back at home.

Is it me or is Azureus sucking up tons of memory? My brand new machine really strugggles whenever I run it.

The Emancipation of Baaderonixx (KERERU 4 LIFE!) (Fabfunk), Saturday, 21 May 2005 11:34 (eighteen years ago) link

yes, it's a memory hog. did you upgrade to the newest version and the latest java?

kyle (akmonday), Saturday, 21 May 2005 13:49 (eighteen years ago) link

Nope, does it make a big difference? I'm now thinking of switching to another program..

The Emancipation of Baaderonixx (KERERU 4 LIFE!) (Fabfunk), Saturday, 21 May 2005 14:12 (eighteen years ago) link

Bitcomet is very good and takes up relatively little memory.

L (Leee), Saturday, 21 May 2005 14:39 (eighteen years ago) link

it seems to take up less resources. also it has support for distributed trackers which is where bittorent is probably going to go soon (making it more p2p and less website-hosted tracker dependent). but installing the update made it crash immediately.

kyle (akmonday), Saturday, 21 May 2005 14:45 (eighteen years ago) link

Bah more sites shut down. In particular, my most used:

Could someone offer me a membership to IndieTorrents and/or DimeADozen ? Purty please? Email me, maybe I have something to trade you may want. thank you.

leonard (tk), Friday, 8 July 2005 05:06 (eighteen years ago) link

you really really don't want an indietorrents invite believe.

Dan I. (Dan I.), Friday, 8 July 2005 06:02 (eighteen years ago) link

What's with Pirate Bay's immunity from the law? I really like their letters page.

I have an oink invite, if some one wants to trade an invite for another site. I already have indietorrents.

Jeff-PTTL (Jeff), Wednesday, 13 July 2005 22:55 (eighteen years ago) link

what's so great about indietorrents? use one slsk.

president carter loves repetition (Jody Beth Rosen), Wednesday, 13 July 2005 23:00 (eighteen years ago) link

torrents are quicker?

mookieproof (mookieproof), Thursday, 14 July 2005 00:36 (eighteen years ago) link

not always.

president carter loves repetition (Jody Beth Rosen), Thursday, 14 July 2005 00:38 (eighteen years ago) link

torrents are generally quicker for me, also you don't get someone buggering off halfway through a download & leaving you hanging ie i can leave my computer to do its thing & go do something else. having said that slsk kills all just for the sheer scope - one of my favourite things is just putting in random words & seeing what songs come out, discovered loads of interesting things that way.

zappi (joni), Thursday, 14 July 2005 00:47 (eighteen years ago) link

Is anyone having severe trouble with torrents at the moment? I mostly just use them for 1 or 2 tv shows, but none of the files seem to play anymore and they have weird extension names, etc.

Felix Leiter (nordicskilla), Thursday, 14 July 2005 01:55 (eighteen years ago) link

also you don't get someone buggering off halfway through a download & leaving you hanging

depends how many people are seeding (if any). sometimes there'll just be one seeder and he'll go offline for days. it also depends on both of your connection/transfer speeds.

president carter loves repetition (Jody Beth Rosen), Thursday, 14 July 2005 02:00 (eighteen years ago) link

it's the same with slsk: sometimes your download is 0.5 kbps and sometimes it's 60.

i'm a bit concerned that my downloads and (to a lesser extent) uploads seem a lot slower than they used to. i've recently installed SP2 - could this be the problem? something to do with firewalls?

toby (tsg20), Friday, 2 September 2005 07:19 (eighteen years ago) link

SP2 limits the amount of outgoing connections you can make to 10, or something like that. I found it didn't significantly affect my d/l speeds, but if your problems started after you installed sp2, that's probably it. You can pretty easily google up some utilities that'll hack your system back into allowing more connections, but I've heard they might fuck with your stability and shit.
