there's some funny stuff in this movie but a lot of it isn't very funny. and the songs aren't funny at all...i mean let's duet is okay but i was expecting some more jokes from that one.

the dylan nonsense song was pretty hilare.

i loved it.

aww shit this was such a fucking stinker. there were some laughs (everything with tim meadows). but you know it was SO FUCKING LAZY. the tunes were actually pretty bad-ass (except for the last song).

Pretty much. Some good laughs. Wouldn't need to see it again but I wouldn't mind hearing the songs (or at least a full version of the cover of Bowie's "Starman.")

Supposedly Reilly is doing a small-scale tour as Dewey Cox. Check your local listings.

I think my favorite line was "That was early Dewey, this is middle Dewey." The songs were OK but kind of the weak spot of the movie, most of them weren't very funny aside from "Let's Duet."

loved it. lazy funny comedy, just enough really good stuff to make it worthwhile. i look forward to seeing this again, but on teh w33d.

My favorite part was the first shot of the giraffe. I saw this all by myself and was LOLing like a psycho.

that "backlash" thing was pretty great.

i thought this was funny. the brian wilson stuff and the dylan stuff was great.

saw it. fell asleep for 40% of it due to drinking halfa bottle of Devils Lair wine.

I haven't seen this yet either, but they played "Royal Jelly" on Fresh Air a couple weeks ago and I LOLed on the train like an idiot.

I wish I had listened to this. There are a few good jokes but lots more jokes that fall flat and then are turned into tiresome running gags. Save it for DVD, if you must.

watched the 2-hour extended cut on dvd. liked it way better than the theatrical version. better paced and a lot of funny bits that shouldn't have been cut in the first place.

I dunno the fact that Disco Dewey got a whole era to himself didn't really work for me, there wasn't enough there to keep me interested. Though admittedly the same section feels much more rushed in theatrical.

Also: I CUT YOU IN HALF LIKE DEWEY COX

I laughed till I cried and then couldn't breathe toward the beginning, then had a 45 minute stretch there in the middle with nothing, then a smattering at the end.

You are WAAAY off man. I still believe Ferrell can come back, he's got it in him. John C. Reilly is just a pretender to the throne. Has he got the longevity and sustainability that Will Ferrell has? Anyway most people don't even know who this sucker is, viewers will go into Walk Hard expecting to see Will Ferrell and be quietly disappointed. I think Judd Apatow is playing them off against each other. The only person who could possibly match up Ferrell is Will Arnett but thats because he's got the quiet/loud/screaming thing down pat too.
Reilly is funny in his own right though, much respect. I will watch Walk Hard.

We didn't watch the director's cut but the theatrical version wasn't as funny as I hoped it would be. Also Kristin Wiig totally kicked Jenna Fischer's ass in the funny stakes.

jenna fischer was hot in this but then again she's basically hot in everything kinda like how that lady from law and order criminal intent was hot in what about bob

Tim Meadows was the best thing about this movie. Dude could use a break of his own, to make up for The Ladies Man and all.

Overall it was only OK, and a bit too mean spirited in times when it should have been lighthearted. I thought Apotow and co. did a fantastic job with the music itself, and also the skewering of the various rock trends throughout the decades. If for nothing else, the film is worth seeing solely for the LSD/Brian Wilson sequence.

Yeah I realise that was quite an inchorent post. I want to believe Ferrell can come back and my heart does but my mind is like; yeah unlikely.

I found this to be a long unfocused mess with a few high-quality lols.

I think this might be the funniest movie of the dECADE!

i can't really argue that it's a mess but i love it so much.
