well, i'm all for david lynch making money - as far as i'm concerned he gets a free pass for life on the strength of twin peaks alone

Surely Bluebob can at least be seen as another entry in the catalogue of Lynch sonic obessions, the problem is its just inferior to the bits he contributed (as "composer" or sound designer) to the Inland Empire, Fire Walks With Me and Eraserhead soundtracks.

perhaps his collaborations and various levels of input on his soundtracks convinced him to try his hand at actually recording out an album, but he just overstepped his limitations a bit in trying? not gonna hold it against him if that's the case. though i may wait till my obsessed friends buy this thing rather than shelling out for it

i heard the lone eno track from dune the other day - it's really beautiful.

really great track, cut from the same cloth as portishead's vinyl-saturated dusted samples or a darker spin on the kind of feel linkous was going for on "it's a wonderful life" (babies on the sun, title track)

the album dark night of the soul isn't hugely successful, but the deluxe edition includes a beautiful book full of photos from a Lynch exhibit (regular CD includes a condensed version which is still cool)

search: little girl w/julian casablancas, star eyes (with lynch), insane lullaby (james mercer) and the lips track

nina persson track is kinda cool in that it sounds exactly like a sparklehorse song sung by her (moreso than anything he did on the first A Camp record which is totally classic)

destroy: the iggy pop and black francis tracks
