who's your qb?

iatee, Wednesday, 7 October 2009 00:27 (fourteen years ago) link

I've got Kyle Orton + McNabb at QB.

Mordy, Wednesday, 7 October 2009 00:29 (fourteen years ago) link

fwiw 13 of deangelo's 2008 TDs came after week 12

panters didn't suck as bad too tho

mordy, I'm thinking unless he's willing to include brees in some massive trade, you shouldn't have westbrook on the table, I don't see anything there that would be worth it. maybe see if he'll go for housh and hester for bowe and cotchery? a total rip-off, but if he wants those guys, might as well try and rip him off.

iatee, Wednesday, 7 October 2009 00:45 (fourteen years ago) link

okay folks, pick two to keep as bench players and this week fill-ins: Kenny Britt, Mohammad Massaquoi and Sidney Rice.

forksclovetofu, Wednesday, 7 October 2009 16:48 (fourteen years ago) link

I think Minnesota is going to be running the ball a lot against St. Louis, whereas Tennessee is going to be passing a lot against Indy. Buffalo/Cleveland might be a close game and could be a low-scoring grinder.

Kenny Britt is seemingly the #1 guy, and Collins can definitely get the ball to him. Massaquoi is a #1, but maybe he'll start getting covered more now that Braylon is gone. Rice doesn't seem like he's going to be more than a third option, but the Vikings score a lot.

I kinda agree? Britt feels like a long term keeper and Massaquoi looks good for this week against the Bills but Rice is getting better each game.
I think I'm letting Mohammad go to the mountain.

forksclovetofu, Wednesday, 7 October 2009 17:13 (fourteen years ago) link

It's never a bad idea to bet against a rookie receiver on a bad offensive team. At least Tennessee can move the ball.

I also love to have a tennessee player on my team and, unless it's Chris Henry, there's not a lot of offensive love to be had there just now.

Unstoppable Eli vs the return of Donovan??? both seem like sweet matchups

bnw, Wednesday, 7 October 2009 22:48 (fourteen years ago) link

Is Eli playing, given his injury?

Your heartbeat soun like sasquatch feet (polyphonic), Wednesday, 7 October 2009 22:56 (fourteen years ago) link

:o good call, he didn't practice

bnw, Wednesday, 7 October 2009 22:58 (fourteen years ago) link

I believe David Carr is absolutely capable of losing to the Raiders.

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 7 October 2009 23:01 (fourteen years ago) link

That would be so hilarious.

McNabb or Kyle Orton?

Mordy, Wednesday, 7 October 2009 23:24 (fourteen years ago) link

ceddy and freddy

bnw, Saturday, 10 October 2009 20:19 (fourteen years ago) link

i an dead last in ilx league so do the opposite

bnw, Saturday, 10 October 2009 20:19 (fourteen years ago) link

I would play kevin smith, partly cause I have him and everytime I don't play him I regret it. and I'm not playing him, so he's gonna do well.

iatee, Saturday, 10 October 2009 20:57 (fourteen years ago) link

I've got the #2 waiver spot this week. Think I should drop Jabar Gaffney for Miles Austin?

Mordy, Tuesday, 13 October 2009 21:55 (fourteen years ago) link

Note: Lance Moore is also available. Maybe I should grab him before I take Austin?

Mordy, Tuesday, 13 October 2009 22:05 (fourteen years ago) link

I certainly would get rid of Gaffney either way.

Your heartbeat soun like sasquatch feet (polyphonic), Tuesday, 13 October 2009 22:32 (fourteen years ago) link

btw thanks for the advice guys - went with Benson and Smith but it turned out to be moot as I ended up with 2.3 points from my WR1/WR2/WR3 combined. LOL.

So Moore or Austin?

Mordy, Tuesday, 13 October 2009 23:30 (fourteen years ago) link

Lance Moore imo. Austin might be the Massaquoi of Week 5, and Brees is a better qb.

Your heartbeat soun like sasquatch feet (polyphonic), Tuesday, 13 October 2009 23:36 (fourteen years ago) link

good call on moore

Cedric Benson vs. Chicago or Steve Slaton vs Niners? OPO

Does the hole come standard or did you have to special order it (forksclovetofu), Tuesday, 20 October 2009 19:51 (fourteen years ago) link

I'm feeling Slaton is due for a big game.

My turn:
Cadillac Williams vs. New England, Jonathan Stewart vs. Buffalo, or Fred Jackson vs. Carolina? OPO

Mordy, Tuesday, 20 October 2009 19:53 (fourteen years ago) link

i'd go stewart

suggest friend (hmmmm), Tuesday, 20 October 2009 20:10 (fourteen years ago) link

yeah running on buffalo is something that should work--their front is so small and carolina's still a good running team.

call all destroyer, Tuesday, 20 October 2009 20:18 (fourteen years ago) link

i just want you all to think about how bad each of these 11 teams is, btw

Panthers
Seahawks
Bills
Raiders
Lions
Redskins
Chiefs
Browns
Titans
Buccaneers
Rams

wrong thread

access flap (omar little), Tuesday, 20 October 2009 20:25 (fourteen years ago) link

I have Drew Brees and Ben Roethlisberger in my money league. Should I try and get a #2 WR (which I desperately need. I've been going with Torry Holt and Hakeem Nicks all season) for Big Ben? Or is the possibility of injury to my boy Brees too great?

Mr. Snrub, Tuesday, 20 October 2009 21:13 (fourteen years ago) link

I'd def trade Ben away for a #2 WR. First of all, the difference between QB's isn't too high, unless you're maybe talking about the top 1-3 (of whom you've already got one). Hell, I'd trade Brees AND Ben for someone like Orton and grab some superplayers. Top ranked QB's are for chumps.

Mordy, Tuesday, 20 October 2009 21:32 (fourteen years ago) link

Trade Big Ben for a #2 receiver + a lesser backup QB

Your heartbeat soun like sasquatch feet (polyphonic), Tuesday, 20 October 2009 21:37 (fourteen years ago) link

no no, do not trade brees. if you've got a dude who could throw for 40 tds, you keep him imo. maybe you trade him away for an underrated mostly-sure thing like schaub + another first round level guy, but otherwise no.

access flap (omar little), Tuesday, 20 October 2009 21:57 (fourteen years ago) link

The problem with trading Roethlisberger is here's the highest-ranking free agent quarterbacks in my league: Trent Edwards, Kevin Kolb, Seneca Wallace, Matthew Stafford, Byron Leftwich, Josh Johnson. So if I lose Brees for the year I am absolutely fucked.

Mr. Snrub, Wednesday, 21 October 2009 00:25 (fourteen years ago) link

who's the saints backup qb? it's a good system, i imagine whoever is behind him would be at least decent.

access flap (omar little), Wednesday, 21 October 2009 00:49 (fourteen years ago) link

Mark Brunell

This is why I advocate doing a 2 for 1.

Battle of the Williams:

Ricky Williams at Jets or DeAngelo Williams at Cards?
I'm leaning toward Ricky.

Also, would you take LDT and Mario Manningham for Deangelo? I also have Benson, Slaton and Ricky in a 2RB league, soooo....

I AM NOT ONE TO PURSUE GAME, MY FRIEND - NO, INDEED. (forksclovetofu), Wednesday, 28 October 2009 14:40 (fourteen years ago) link

I'd go with Ricky, because the Dolphins burned the Jets on the ground last game, and the Giants had shit for ground yards against the Redbirds on Sunday.

Benson will be steady production all season (barring injury), and you can alternate Slaton and Ricky based on matchups. Is someone trying to trade you LDT and Manningham or are you trying to deal them yourself? If you have Deangelo already, keep him.

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 28 October 2009 14:47 (fourteen years ago) link

they're trying to trade for Dangelo. I'm loaded at RB; WR is Vincent Jackson, Johnny Knox, Sidney Rice and Andre Caldwell, which in a 3 WR league is kinda thin... would prefer to deal one top 20 RB for one top 20 WR, but no one is buying. Manningham is meant to answer that but feast or famine Eli has me doubting him.

i'm going ricky by same reasoning. Little nervous DeAngelo has a blowout game and I end up a schmuck.

Slaton
ricky williams
addai
thomas jones

johnny crunch, Friday, 30 October 2009 12:16 (fourteen years ago) link

i'd leave out addai, personally.
