so weird, i barely even think of dune as a lynch movie. i'm glad he's putting out some kind of approved extended version though. the world needed a 70th version of dune.

I got "The Short Films of David Lynch" from Netflix. Should I bother to watch? Will I need some kind of psychedelics to understand it?

some of the short films are good (the grandmother, the burning heads, the lumiere thing) and the cowboy and the frenchman is dumb.

There's a lot of dry cut footage I remember, but the most notable extra was this cooking lesson he does. Nothing special about the actual cooking, but the whole bit is filmed and scored like Inland Empire so it's incredibly unnerving and creepy for no reason. After making it through the film I couldn't bring myself to finish watching him cook quiche.

I love the way my old DVD of Dune looks. The non-anamorphic picture at is too wide at 16:9 so it's like you got to a packed cinema late and have had to sit right at the side, while the low resolution encoding gives it the grain of VHS. Perfect.
