Y'all just aren't smoking enough weed. :)

I'll take my novelty hits where I can find them. ClassiX0R for Pat O'Brien having to grin his way thru relating its position in the charts at the end of whatever horrible show he hosts.

four years pass...
I've been listened to this song at Radio1 in 2004 or start of 2005. It was in the middle of the night. I was scared. I never knew the author of this "opus?". And everytime I see this playing in a brazilian radio, I fall myself in a conseption that something's just starting to happen with music... For bad, of course!
And this man won a grammy!

I'd say this think ranks above such monstrosities as Aaron Carter and _Temptation Island_.

All those things were great... I miss the summer of 2001!

Oh man, I hated this song when it first came out and I still hate it now. Thank God I haven't heard it in a while.

That's a funny way of spelling "classic."

I have it on green vinyl!

Also, as someone who has smoked pot a total of once in his life (why would I want to take a drug that makes me boring), I like to think of it as a self-aware anti-pot pro-pot song. Also, when was the last time something so half-assed sounding was on rap radio? It's like Beat Happening getting a song on MTV!

Whiney G. Weingarten (whineyg), Tuesday, 16 May 2006 19:37 (seventeen years ago) link

this is such a great great song - for ALL the reasons nitsuh mentions above, but it also just SOUNDS good through a big stereo despite its obvious cheapness, i mean it's a novelty track but the music is great! i think its placement over the end credits to whatever that kevin smith movie probably did a lot for it above and beyond just the exposure.. most cinemas have sound systems that put home stereos to shame...

what i am a little more embarrassed about is the fact that i now actually love almost all of afroman's music. (??)

Tracey Hand (tracerhand), Tuesday, 16 May 2006 19:45 (seventeen years ago) link

No love for "Industry Diss"? I'm still in awe of his ruminations on Eve's flat head.

Joseph McCombs (Joseph McCombs), Tuesday, 16 May 2006 23:25 (seventeen years ago) link

afroman has a song where he mentions eve??? that's not on my copy of "good times"!

Tracey Hand (tracerhand), Tuesday, 16 May 2006 23:28 (seventeen years ago) link

i made a thread about it a long time ago, when i had much more vim and vigor!

Holy Crap! Afroman Disses THE ENTIRE RAP INDUSTRY - Jay, 50, Nas, Lil Jon, many others!

nude spock in "not getting it" shocka!

afroman was being interviewed on some show about 1 hit wonders and he was hilariously stoned.

I've never thought about him the same way since finding out all the friends joking around in the background of his tracks were just him. there's something about imagining him recording all the little laughs and adlibs to tag onto his own jokes that makes me a little sad

didn't he get some ridiculous multi album deal off the strength off his one hit? maybe he's just fulfilling a contract? but who is his an audience?

OK so "Will You Help Me Repair My Door?" is actually surprisingly powerful?

The Afroman Xmas album is genuinely one of the worst things I've ever heard

Cannot vouch for most of this guy’s music but “will you help me repair my door,” both the song and video, is an instant classic.

I am disturbed though by the fact that his walls are painted kelly green and he has green carpet. Did no one notice this?
