hi, i am curious how the AIM app works as i cannot try any of this stuff out until i get home. someone who has installed 2.0 and succeeded in downloading an app, please let me know how it works. this seems to be a thread regarding S/D iphone apps, thanks!

Seriously, how AIM works on iPhone is actually interesting and relevant to this thread, so that's what I thought you were getting at. I got your lovely "ON IPHONE" response when I attempted to clarify and a "thanks for nothing" after I spent a few minutes scrubbing through the keynote video looking for the section I thought you were looking for. So The Google link was in response to you being aggressive and ungrateful toward to a genuine attempt to answer your question. I think you'll live though.

aim app only works while running. You give it yr details once, it remembers them. Tabbed interface -- buddies, statuses and live I'm conversations. It's pretty neat.

Nnw is a disappointment. Offline Reading is nice, but UI not polished, no control over feeds, no unified, poor browser. Very 1.0

I wouldn't say you were obviously asking for first-hand experience with AIM on the iPhone; I assumed you wanted PR-speak "this is how it works"-type hype info, as well.

I haven't used the itunes remote app yet (soon I hope!) but from what I've read, it lets you display and play from your computer's itunes library on your iphone/ipod touch. It does it over wifi.

remote control is surprisingly great. Somehow much more satisfying than I imagined, and good that search is in there.

It's good when yr bored and in one place, though. The non-persistance isn't their fault, though, Apple won't let apps run in the background. Notifications will sort that, though.

As far as I know, it's as safe as the next unauthorised app. Lots (and lots) of people use it though with little (if any) reported problems.

I bought a $2 alarm clock app in which I can "record" the steps I take to my kitchen (coffee pot) and the alarm is supposed to ring until I get up and walk there each morning, but it doesn't work properly. Anyone got a good alarm clock app that does GPS well?

do smartphone GPS's work well enough to reliably/consistently measure, like, several feet? In my experience there's always been a several-meters margin of error but I haven't fucked w/ anything in a few years so ymmv

Why would you need an app for that? I find the native Notes app to be more than adequate.

i just took a picture of the front page of a newspaper and it automatically named the file "telephone numbers".

I don't want to speak for everyone, I have both models of the newest iphones (and before that an ancient SE) and have never encountered a problem!

Just table some anecdotal input on the native app tally for me.

Dropbox does a good job at scanning.
