It seems that this is definitely happening.
What do you all think?

if the show is half as entertaining as last years PPV, best thing to happen in years...

one month passes...
well.. is it?

it's been a bit tame so far - and Sky here seems to be wanting to censor all the good bits!

Sandman's joke opponents being the most memorable thing so far = uhhh

The Sandman looks surprisingly good tho... I mean, I can see him getting over huge if they continue with the 30-second squashes, 'cause I don't remember him looking as mean and nasty.

I did find it comical that he was still huffing and puffing backstage while the whole Cena bullshit was going down.

Shit, I totally forgot to watch ECW last night. Did I miss much?

I just watched the June 27th edition and while the main event (RVD vs Angle) was good, it's just another WWE match with the same formula. In fact, I enjoyed the Sabu/Roadkill squash more just because we get to see something "new" (heck, even seeing a pump handle elbowdrop makes for a nice change of pace).

Joey Styles and Tazz, though, are really annoying and it really takes away from the product. Heck, I'd say Mike Tenay and Don West are less annoying.

WWE really don't understand the concept of "alternative", do they?

do they do piledrivers in ECW?

ken c (ken c), Sunday, 9 July 2006 14:07 (seventeen years ago) link

I haven't seen one...

four weeks pass...
aren't Kevin Thorne and Ariel basically just emo kids? this vampire shit is way too hokey.

i actually don't mind ECW On Sci-Fi, but The Sandman needs to take a smoke break mid-match again and there seems to be a huge lack of sense of humour (something the old ECW had).

five years pass...

so how is the ecw name being used now? is there any real connection between old ecw and wwe-ecw beyond the name?

shart practice (Merdeyeux), Thursday, 23 February 2012 18:19 (twelve years ago) link

wwe-ecw has been written out of history. mainly because they pegged a lot on benoit making it a 'wrestling' show i guess, and him murdering while there.

tbh i think ecw fandom has p much died down and the only real remnants of it are tazz's awful commentary on tna and rvd looking too stoned/old to continue. it has been def. overtaken by memphis in terms of fashionable old territory to look back on.

i think as time passes on it will continue settling into its place in history: "some great storylines, some really shitty wrestlers, made lucha/cruiserweights get their break, learnt that legit beating the shit out of each other with chairs and tables and 40 ft jumps etc. aren't good for you, crack and heroin also bad for you."
