this be the thread.

cºzen (Cozen), Saturday, 30 October 2004 22:52 (nineteen years ago) link

He seems aight.

Casuistry (Chris P), Sunday, 31 October 2004 01:17 (nineteen years ago) link

I have booked my tickets and I should persuade someone to accompany me and also should probably read some of his poetry, really.

cºzen (Cozen), Sunday, 31 October 2004 20:56 (nineteen years ago) link

I just returned from hearing him speak. I managed to bore a girl, curse acoustics & my throat, and lose what little remaining faith I had in 'the reading'. I'm not sure I like paul muldoon.

cºzen (Cozen), Friday, 5 November 2004 20:23 (nineteen years ago) link

All because of a girl?

Casuistry (Chris P), Friday, 5 November 2004 20:49 (nineteen years ago) link

everything in my lives...

cºzen (Cozen), Friday, 5 November 2004 22:28 (nineteen years ago) link

All of them?

Casuistry (Chris P), Friday, 5 November 2004 22:50 (nineteen years ago) link

I'm just being silly. anyway, more serious is my essay on whether the common law will (or should) survive in a globalised world, which if I can write as well as I maybe can might mean I can go live in new york for a year as a dworkin scholar. surely you would all like that for me, unless of course you hate me.

cºzen (Cozen), Friday, 5 November 2004 23:06 (nineteen years ago) link

I should remind those of you at the back that this is still a thread about paul muldoon and if your microphone is switched on and if the simultaneous translation is working then perhaps you can comment?

cºzen (Cozen), Friday, 5 November 2004 23:07 (nineteen years ago) link

As in Andrea Dworkin?

Casuistry (Chris P), Friday, 5 November 2004 23:26 (nineteen years ago) link

I've passed on buying Muldoon books for cheap for nearly a decade now, and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Casuistry (Chris P), Friday, 5 November 2004 23:27 (nineteen years ago) link

ronald, you insensitive fool.

paul muldoon is a very nice, good humoured man.

cºzen (Cozen), Friday, 5 November 2004 23:31 (nineteen years ago) link

I'm not sure I like paul muldoon.

Anyway, I'm glad it's not Andrea. Who knows what she would do to "the little cozen".

I'm in favor of you spending some time in New York. It makes it that much more likely that I could meet you. Plus I could give you my whirlwind tour of NYC bookstores! If any of them are still there.

Casuistry (Chris P), Friday, 5 November 2004 23:42 (nineteen years ago) link

you know I've read andrea dworkin already anyway. and caroline pateman, nicola lacey, &c. I would be more afeared of what ronald would do to me. have you read any dworkin? it's been a while since I have I think. I'm not sure I could tell you one single idea of his. why aren't you on aim?

cºzen (Cozen), Friday, 5 November 2004 23:50 (nineteen years ago) link

I have only skimmed Dworkin.

I can get on AIM if you'd like.

Casuistry (Chris P), Saturday, 6 November 2004 00:20 (nineteen years ago) link

Cozen, I meant to start this thread in April! Well, here we are.

We cleaned up with 'The HedgeHog', didn't we?

the bellefox, Monday, 8 November 2004 15:33 (nineteen years ago) link

It's like someone's parent walking in on you.

Casuistry (Chris P), Monday, 8 November 2004 22:37 (nineteen years ago) link

I am one of Cozen's parents, in a way.

the bluefox, Tuesday, 9 November 2004 13:50 (nineteen years ago) link

Or, to put it a third way, there is something in your relationship with Cozen which is almost parental.

Casuistry (Chris P), Tuesday, 9 November 2004 14:07 (nineteen years ago) link

Cozen, do you have a 4th way?

It's important to listen to the voice of the children themselves, sometimes.

the bellefox, Tuesday, 9 November 2004 14:55 (nineteen years ago) link

I am working on the 4th way.

cºzen (Cozen), Tuesday, 9 November 2004 18:18 (nineteen years ago) link

Am I "robbing the cradle"?

Casuistry (Chris P), Tuesday, 9 November 2004 18:25 (nineteen years ago) link

I have respect for most people.

cºzen (Cozen), Wednesday, 10 November 2004 22:17 (nineteen years ago) link

one month passes...
So.

I now have a book, containing Muldoon briefly talking about his ain volumes.

the finefox, Thursday, 23 December 2004 11:02 (nineteen years ago) link

'his one vast project: to show everything is in everything else'?

cºzen (Cozen), Thursday, 23 December 2004 13:45 (nineteen years ago) link

Really? Then perhaps he succeeds. It sounds like FW also.

the pomefox, Thursday, 23 December 2004 13:54 (nineteen years ago) link

four months pass...
that is a don paterson quote. d.paterson is also very astute in highlighting muldoon's ability to embed rhymes across 10, 100 lines, individual poems and even across books. I have also noticed, and this is possibly a little joke d.paterson plays just to satisfy himself, because he is both a wiley and tricksy stylist at times, he has started separating muldoon's rhymes out for himself, across his own poems, subtle little bookends like his beloved, almost-imperceptible etymological puns.

I have muldoon's "new selected 1968-94".

cozen (Cozen), Friday, 29 April 2005 14:28 (eighteen years ago) link

... and I really like "the more a man has the more a man wants" and I really like muldoon.

cozen (Cozen), Friday, 29 April 2005 14:29 (eighteen years ago) link

I like him, except for his pop music poems.

Ken L (Ken L), Friday, 29 April 2005 14:40 (eighteen years ago) link

seventeen years pass...

This Father’s Day, Bono made an appearance at Dublin's @dalkeybookfest in conversation with Paul Muldoon, with an exclusive first reading from his forthcoming #SurrenderMemoir, about his relationship with his own father.
