buddha bookends

I have these two Buddha bookends. But I'm not using them as bookends. They're on either side of a picture of my Scottish grandfather and his cronies, who are all wearing tweed caps. Circa 1940.
Do you think my grandfather would approve?

Also, I stole the buddhas. But I know she wanted me to have them.

Well, 'tis better to steal Buddhas than to leave them to those furious students. As to whether your grandfather would approve of his cronies all wearing tweed caps, I can't see why not.

Thank you! Who are the furious students?

Don't make me ask another question, Drunks!
I'm going to pirate this thread.

aimurchie, Monday, 5 May 2008 20:18 (fifteen years ago) link

My dear aimurchie, in order to pirate some object, as used in the sense of a verb and its object, one must in some compassable sense become a pirate, or stand in loco piratus, as it were.

We shall require you to show us some pirate credentials before we may go any further with this charade. Also, a bottle of rum. Or a small keg would be better, on second thought. At least a hogshead, if you please.

You may put it right here. After that we shall discuss your pirating evolution. As soon as we have whetted out whistles, drunk our bever, dipped our beards, if you catch my drift. Thank you muchly.

as soon as you've whetted your whistle, you'll be whistling a coarse air

Still better than his indistinct humming, though, n'est-ce pas?

Michael White, Tuesday, 6 May 2008 20:41 (fifteen years ago) link

Not to mention when he sings for a buck an ear.

Michael White, Wednesday, 7 May 2008 14:30 (fifteen years ago) link

Your poor opinions of my singing are no more to me than a paper cut, lasses.

Aimless, Wednesday, 7 May 2008 17:57 (fifteen years ago) link

i'm off for a vast mai-tai

Matt, Wednesday, 7 May 2008 20:28 (fifteen years ago) link

Are they wearing them wide again this Mai?

Michael White, Wednesday, 7 May 2008 20:30 (fifteen years ago) link

I prefer a good port, me'self.

You pegged that one, Aimless!

By hook or by crook.... I'll manage to join in somehow.
