DJ Martian's Page http://djmartian.blogspot.com/ Diverse Music Positive Weblog covering a range of interesting creative artistic music: jungle, industrial, dark metal, gothic, electro-rock, techno, epic rock, post rock, experimental hardcore, ambient, tech house, progressive trance

Just a reminder, Tom has linked to my weblog - It has been going for over a month now.

I would like to increase the regular readership of my weblog. The mission of the weblog is to highlight interesting music across the sound spectrum, breaking down music barriers and genre ghettos. The weblog covers forthcoming and current albums, also a look back at some of the music of the past twenty years or so.

The increased fragmentation of music, ever expanding sub genres of music, the growth of the internet and new ways of direct marketing, and new independent labels - many artists are making creative music that are not getting mainstream coverage, as their music may straddle a number of genres, or they don't have the marketing budgets and financial muscle of corporations behind them, or conventional radio restricts options for new talent to reach new audiences.

e.g - a candidate for album of the year - Cave in - "jupiter" - is a brilliant epic emotional rock album that has been ignored by most of the media. If Radiohead had released this album, the music plaudits would be raining down - even more so than Kid A or OK Computer.

If you are looking for a fresh individualistic slant and opinionated aproach to music analysis and need to keep up date with new artists and forthcoming releases then check out my weblog regularly.

I don't expect people to agree with everything I cover there are probably some genres that you may not be particularly interested in or even unfamiliar with

...however if I can share my knowledge, entertain, educate, even make you laugh, offer new insights - and introduce you to new artists - then my mission will be achieved.

reminded of this by a link from fred's post in YET ANOTHER ILM META-THREAD, i'd just like to point out how hilarious i think it is that dj martian's shameless self- promotion was met with... shameless self- promotion. i think if you put all these people (you know the type) in a big ant farm or something they'd probably be happy just to stumble around promoting whatever 'creative' endeavor they have any involvment in. which is totally cool.

The only negative thing I have to say about your website is that the layout sometimes makes my head twitch. Other than that, you've got a TON of useful information.

OTM; information plentiful, readability can be testing, though.

I can only imagine what the amount of work required to do a blog like his for ten years does to your free time/social life, but it looks like he's finally given it all up this year.

That's sad if that's the case. I haven't looked at it for while but have read it on and off with great appreciation since about 2003.
