So, more or less blindly, I bought the first two volumes of the
Ghost In The Shell: Stand Alone Complex soundtracks. They're fucking mind-roasting. Drum 'n' bass, jazz, industro-metal guitar crunch, gabba beats underpinning kiddy-voices a la the
Akira soundtrack, male vocals that sound like Gibby Haynes circa
Psychic...Powerless...Another Mans Sac rapping about CNN and BBC...anything and everything I could ever want is on these two CDs. So my question is, what else do I need by Yoko Kanno, and since I know she jumps from style to style depending on the film, please offer relatively detailed sonic descriptions. Or just testify to her undying brilliance.

Cowboy Bebop soundtracks: OST 1, 2, and 3... the vast majority is simply incredible. Everything from the theme song (Tank!) to mellow sad bits like Waltz for Zizi. A few songs are not worth it--Rain is dreadful. In general these are more jazz/traditional rock influenced than what you have.
Cowboy Bebop: The Remixes Music for Freelance is also excellent--the Ian Pooley remix is a favorite.
I wasn't impressed with her Escaflowne music, too repetative without any dynamics.
here's a full listing of her work: http://www.jameswong.com/ykproject/disc/music.php

fourteen years pass...

There's some very good stuff on the two Zankyou No Terror/Terror in Resonance soundtrack disks. The closing theme is especially poignant.

With her involvement, I've upgraded the upcoming live-action show from "will never watch" to "will watch and probably dislike". Netflix has a horrendous track record with anime -> live-action and I'm not sure Kanno can save this but I'm intrigued
