i love the motown stuff, but never realized he continued to put out records all through the 70s.

Just figured out my reference to having seen him live above was when he did a mini-set in January 1989 at an also evil Lee Atwater booked inauguration event for George Bush sr. I scalped a ticket cheap outside and reviewed the show for Dave Marsh’s r’n’ rap confidential zine . He did his best and tried to engage stereotypical Republican crowd in call & response, but not very successfully.
