Blues Traveler is releasing their eighth studio album and Vanguard Records
debut ¡Bastardos! on September 13th. The band is touring in support of the
new album and will be playing Rams Head Live at 9:30 pm on October 8th.
Tickets are $27.50.

Blues Traveler - John Popper, Chan Kinchla, Brendan Hill, Tad Kinchla and
Ben Wilson - recorded ¡Bastardos! in March at Texas Treefort Studio in
Austin, Texas. Essential to the band's approach was producer, solo artist
and ex-Wilco multi-instrumentalist Jay Bennett. "This is just us being
completely ourselves, and not thinking about what we should be doing," says
guitarist Chan Kinchla. As one of the few remaining kingpins of the jam
scene who can back up grooves with carefully crafted songs and stories that
are both witty and catchy, songs on ¡Bastardos! focus on falling in and out
of love, and what can happen before and after heartbreak. "During the
process of making this record I ended my engagement, fell in love and
caroused a lot," says Popper, the band's lyricist.

The week of release Blues Traveler will take late-night television by storm
with performances slated for NBC's Tonight Show with Jay Leno on September
14, followed by ABC's Jimmy Kimmel Live on September 15, and a September 16
airing of their performance on NBC's Last Call with Carson Daly. On
September 21, the band will perform live on The Howard Stern Show, and on
September 26, they will tape a performance on Austin City Limits, which is
slated to air in December.

seeing the number of absolutely outstanding, near vacant SF shows I've seen this last year, reading a bunch of critics griping about occupational hazards & taking it out on the musicians makes me resent every single time any of you have ever been paid for your opinion

Seeing fellow artists get grossly underrated vs. getting paid to write about music while having to deal with a flood of musical diarrhea (relatively speaking) in your mailbox every day, which after a while is really fucking annoying and justifies the pay. I dunno... which is worse?

If critics had any real power, everyone would own a Pere Ubu album.

I do feel like we should maybe have a metoo thread for ILM so the totality of it doesn't end up on individual threads for musicians that people around here don't care much about. Bassnectar, Ryan Adams, Front Porch Step... Wasn't there some NYC indie show promoter who was sexually assaulting women a couple years ago?
