Ultramagnetic MC's at S.O.B.'s

I went to see a reunited Ultramagnetic MC's last night in NYC--Kool Keith, Ced Gee, all of 'em together again.

The club was at less than half capacity, which I could hardly believe. Aren't people into the Ultramagnetics anymore? I was sure the place would be swarming with old school types and indie kids.

Anyway, it was a poorly managed show, but the group was fantastic, especially Kool Keith--crazy as ever.

Kool Keith's live show reputation probably kept a lot of people away.

I saw him. He showed up. But played like 30 minutes. 15 of which was complaining.

The only time I've had a chance to see him it was just as M@tt describes... 10 minutes of music, followed by 10 minutes of hectoring the crowd for shouting out Dr. Octagon song titles that he didn't want to perform, followed by 5 minutes more music, then him angrily running off stage for no apparent reason in mid-song.

I'd still try to make it out to see a reunited Ultramagnetic, though. Damn.

my first experience was like those described, but the last time I saw him (at B.B. King's in January) he played for an hour, didn't complain, and actually seemed to enjoy himself
