paper recordings and old weird house

ok so im lisening to the herbert "letsmakemistakes" and he first track is familiar and it urns out that itds on paper recordings, and that reminds me of "repap", their offshoot. Ive got a MusicMan 12" on repap that is really good, and I suddenly started wondering about Paper. As a dreadful recent-convert to house, and into "micro"house, i suddnyl wondered about labels like paper, which used to be pretty hip, and there seemed to be a lot of fuss about them offering new, interesting house music, way back when. so what happened to them? what happened to repap? out of all that (brit?) er...."hip" house, lke swag, crazy penis, that robodisco night in manc, paper (wasnt nuphonic aligned with thes people?) etc, what should i check pout from 1999-2001 that is like a precedent of minimal stuff now? what was weird, odd and cool and funky then? is this a rich seam waiting to be "mined" by prats like me?

tell me about paper et al.

(i might have totally invented this movement, that didnt exist at all, i dont know).

You want to listen to some Classic and Music For Freaks releases.

that is indeed THE Annie on the mix. I first heard Greatest Hit when Miles Hollway played the 7" in October of 99 at Brian Lyons' house night at Rebar. Hung out with Miles for a couple days and can say the Paper crew were solid through and through. Loads of classics on Paper..just find their 4 excellent label comps and you'll be set for bit. Have to admit to being disappointed with the Robodisco compilation, however.

this comp is a good place to start.

then track down "live at the heavenly social" vol. 1 ... actually maybe you should start here.

then track down all the idjuts stuff you can, all of the old classic ("classic" the label) comps, the music for freaks comps, everything related to faze action, old muzique tropique, any dj mixes you can find by doc martin, anything related to 20:20 records, definitely look into atjazz and mantis recordings, ferox if you're willing to go crazy digging, and if you don't mind being made fun of by hipsters you can even start getting into the shaboom back catalogue...

then you'll be as big a deep house nerd as i am!!

seventeen years pass...

some shenanigans going on atm

Elliot Eastwick and his gang of bullies are at it again. If you can’t see someone who sells out people for cash to tabloids isn’t a wrong un I’ve no hope for you.

A nasty, bad grass. He’d turn on you on a sixpence if Murdoch offered 300 quid.

He's been banned from all the socials at some point or another for threats of violence, harassment and stalking.

Be aware.

He is not a funtime cartoon-faced sauce peddler he is a deeply nasty piece of work. https://t.co/FTGqsZidOp

The violence and threatening language Eastwick uses is all-too familiar. I had it daily for a decade.

There's lots of people who've had to endure this. Contact me if you are a victim too. You are not alone. https://t.co/ay6Uii3hBk
