Good ol' AllMusic gives us three pages of possible "Come Together"s!

...although most are just covers of the Beatles song, but hell, covers count too!

Easy for me.

I was just fucking with your head, DB.

Sorry, but "Stardust" wins by a mile (jazz-standard from (I think) the 20s). 1712 matches by AMG, though many are the same recording.

Still, I heard on tv-program somewhere that it sure is the most recorded song in history, makes sense when you think of it.

So, for ORIGINALS:
Beatles
Spiritualized
Primal Scream
Blur (yes, off "Leisure" of all albums)
Danny Tenaglia(?)

MC5!!

So, for ORIGINALS

About half that list doesn't deserve the term. ;-)

I used to like Aerosmith's rendition of the Beatles' standard, until I saw the dreaded film from whence it came....featuring a scene wherein Boston's Bad Boys get the snots beaten outta them by the fuckin' Bee Gees and Peter Frampton? I mean, what the fuck?

Sisters of Mercy have an original "Come Together" from 1992-ish that still hasn't made it onto an official release, also.

Primal Scream win by a million billion miles

stevem (blueski), Sunday, 11 January 2004 01:58 (twenty years ago) link

but which Primal Scream version - UK version or American version?

UK is a Weatherall production - very druggy with narcoleptic beats, while American version is more rockist with break beat drums (if I remember correctly.

I'll take the UK version

yes, i don't like the "kisssss meeeee" version at all

Edge of Darkness ~ Come Together

Primal Scream wins narrowly. Then Beatles, then Spiritualized a distant third, then Blur waaaaaaaay in last place. I love Blur, but that song is possibly the worst song on their worst album.
