After a blithe perusal of the racks with no discernible treasures to be found, I strolled back up front and quizzed the dwarves behind the counter (for some reason, NYCD seems to hire either stumpy short people or tall, elfin watusi types...it's very odd) if they'd spotted any promo stuff or advance copies or *ANYTHING* from Killing Joke (the album is due out towards the end of this month). Dwarf Number One shook his head dissapointingly, adding insult to injury by saying "Is it going to be out on Cleopatra or something?" Dick. Dwarf Number Two, however, said: "One of them was in here about two weeks ago!" After I re-attached my eyebrows (being that they'd jumped off my head at this news), I pestered him for details. According to my diminutive disc clerk, a "guy with thick jet blackhair and bushy eyebrows, about your height (edit.note: 6'1") came in here piss fucking drunk. He rifled through the back racks then came back here, and was all loud at me. 'HOW COME YOU DON'T HAVE ANY FUCKING KILLING JOKE??' he yelled, spraying the entire counter with alcohol-flecked spittle. He was wearing all sortsa leather shit and an Indiana Jones hat." "That's our Jaz," I confirmed. For fear of any violent reciprocity from the great man, Dwarf Number Two vowed that when said album arrives, he shall display it prominently.
Now, why is it that when I'm out and about the town, I only run intoex-members of the fucking Cars and Television and not the JOKE!!!!!!! There is no justice.
Anyway, thought I'd share that with y'all.

.....expressing not even the slightest hint of irony. Clearly he believes in what he's doing, and thinks his art should be available -- nay, force-fed! -- to the public.

"What on earth are you implying?"

Shit, that's even worse than pestering clerks as to why none of your albums are stocked. Still, Ric married Paulina Porizkova, so he laughs last. Or not.

He probably laughs last, too.

Please take a good look at this storefront:
http://graphics.gemm.com/graphics_db/hogwild.cameo.jpeg
This is a store in San Antonio called Hogwild Records. It's usually good at stocking anything one can't find anywhere else in the city, but to date I have yet to see a single Killing Joke anything in this store.
Please feel free to fly down here for a day of sun, sightseeing, and dropping by this store in a drunken mess threatening impending death should this store not start to carry anything Killing Joke. It is an embarrassment to this institution that a more radio-friendly local CD chain store has more Killing Joke in just one of its SMALLISH locations than in this entire store.
The store is on N. Main Ave., near the intersection of Main and San Pedro. If heading north-south on San Pedro, turn left before you get to the nearby community college; if heading south-north on same, turn right just after you get to the nearby community college. I trust you can figure out how to get there without further assistance.
Thank you. Will look forward to hearing about it in the local news.

Remember when we had disc shops? Yeah, those were good times.
