Hello,

I am interested in the post-United States Of America work of Joseph Byrd. There is very little info to be has from AMG, and the ILM archives only address his work with USA. Is it worth hunting down his synth records like "Yankee Transcendoodle" and "Christmas Yet to Come".

Don't know about those, but The American Metaphysical Circus is a great album. Should be easy enough to find, too.

ya i was going to suggest the same thing. it's by Joseph Byrd and the Field Hippies. there's a reissue out there, but i found a totally wrecked copy of it for 3$. too bad it's water logged and is covered by pops and hiss.

i'd add the first song of this record to the Halloween thread

Hmm..I have to say I liked United States of America s/t more than America Metaphysical Circus, but it's still definitely worth a listen...

fifteen years pass...

I just found there's a set of pre USA recordings on Spotify by a Joseph Byrd that I would take to be the same guy. It's up as NYC 1960-63 and sounds like Reich and a few other contemporaries. More avant garde than the USA possibly.

actually looks like the work was recorded as American Contemporary Music Ensemble between 2010 and 2013. Found that out from looking it up on Rateyour music.
Wish Spotify had notes etc.
