rules

1. you may *only* post to this thread if you are a lurker (5 max career posts)
2. if you happen to fall into that category, you MUST post to this thread immediately. in the name of science etc
3. one post per lurker pls
4. logged out posts are okay (you probably don't have a reg. name anyway)
5. the first recognizable ilx person to post to this thread is understood to have damned his/herself with the ill-tempered and unshakably noxious karma of a million frothing hellhounds

oh god im bored

mark p (Mark P), Wednesday, 4 June 2003 18:27 (twenty years ago) link

Hullo.

MikeB, Wednesday, 4 June 2003 20:38 (twenty years ago) link

I'm no theologian, but isn't there a bit of a contradiction between the concepts of damnation and karma?

Lord Byron Lived Here, Wednesday, 4 June 2003 21:19 (twenty years ago) link

i am currently disguised as mobile shrubbery. you don't really see me passing across your monitor right now because i blend so nicely with my background.

hello.

jennpb (jennpb), Wednesday, 4 June 2003 23:04 (twenty years ago) link

hey - that was my idea

N. (nickdastoor), Wednesday, 4 June 2003 23:06 (twenty years ago) link

N, don't look now, but there's hellhounds on your trail.

oops (Oops), Wednesday, 4 June 2003 23:08 (twenty years ago) link

unshakably noxious ones (!?!)

mark p (Mark P), Thursday, 5 June 2003 00:18 (twenty years ago) link

I count as a lurker beacause I only post 5 times per year

ejad (daje), Thursday, 5 June 2003 00:54 (twenty years ago) link

my international galavanting and work as a professor prevent me from making more frequent posts. and simon trife's re-emergence prompts me to them.

woland, Thursday, 5 June 2003 02:37 (twenty years ago) link

yeah.

k, Thursday, 5 June 2003 05:30 (twenty years ago) link

Huh?

JS Williams (js williams), Thursday, 5 June 2003 06:47 (twenty years ago) link

i lurk here.

loki (David_X), Thursday, 5 June 2003 09:56 (twenty years ago) link

At Nathalie's suggestion, you are only allowed to post to this thread if you usually just lurk around ILE reading our nonsense and not writing yourself

surely N this was Nathalie's idea

james (james), Thursday, 5 June 2003 10:09 (twenty years ago) link

She was John the Baptist to my Christ.

N. (nickdastoor), Thursday, 5 June 2003 10:10 (twenty years ago) link

Did you guys bother to read rule number one?

Whoops, I did it myself!

Tuomas (Tuomas), Thursday, 5 June 2003 10:12 (twenty years ago) link

Nathalies a dude?

james (james), Thursday, 5 June 2003 10:13 (twenty years ago) link

oh i fiigured rule number one covered many different aspects of lurking - seven injunctions would suggest i lurk often

james (james), Thursday, 5 June 2003 10:13 (twenty years ago) link

Can I point out N.'s arrogance in comparing himself with Our Lord JESUS CHRIST without breaking the rules of the thread.

Pete (Pete), Thursday, 5 June 2003 10:21 (twenty years ago) link

Pete is a Pharisee hata.

N. (nickdastoor), Thursday, 5 June 2003 10:28 (twenty years ago) link

What did the Pharisees ever do for us?

Pete (Pete), Thursday, 5 June 2003 10:30 (twenty years ago) link

Will I get immunity if I admit to lurking?

maddylonglegs, Thursday, 5 June 2003 11:03 (twenty years ago) link

Immunity from what?

Tuomas (Tuomas), Thursday, 5 June 2003 11:08 (twenty years ago) link

being told of or something...

I was trying to think of a good thing to say, that was the best thing I could come up with.

Feel a bit sad now...

maddylonglegs, Thursday, 5 June 2003 11:31 (twenty years ago) link

of = off

it's all going wrong

maddylonglegs, Thursday, 5 June 2003 11:32 (twenty years ago) link

Ni Hao!

(I'm sure I'll regret this in the morning)

Mark Bartlam, Thursday, 5 June 2003 13:10 (twenty years ago) link

Blimey!

RickyT (RickyT), Thursday, 5 June 2003 13:31 (twenty years ago) link

i'm pretty much a lurker, though i try not to be.

emily bee (emilybee), Thursday, 5 June 2003 15:35 (twenty years ago) link

real lurkers don't post, y'all are a lie

cat, Thursday, 5 June 2003 18:39 (twenty years ago) link

ten months pass...
Have lurked for a while now. Have never been in a position to 'add' anything to ILE on a consistent basis so never bothered at all. Hope to contribute now.....

drum (drum), Thursday, 8 April 2004 23:29 (twenty years ago) link

why DO people lurk here?

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Friday, 9 April 2004 00:57 (twenty years ago) link

I wish I had lurked here rather than making such dumbass posts for the first several months

Curt1s St3ph3ns, Friday, 9 April 2004 00:59 (twenty years ago) link

ILX hotties. [xpost]

Colin Saunders (csaunders), Friday, 9 April 2004 00:59 (twenty years ago) link

why DO people lurk here?

Because some of the visitors in fact can resist feeding the animals.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 9 April 2004 01:00 (twenty years ago) link

it just seems so pointless to me.

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Friday, 9 April 2004 01:01 (twenty years ago) link

I wish I had lurked here rather than making such dumbass posts for the first several months

ha! i think that too, only, even as a regular i CONTINUE saying dumb shit :-)

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Friday, 9 April 2004 01:01 (twenty years ago) link

oh surely you get over the dumb shit thing within like, two weeks

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Friday, 9 April 2004 01:03 (twenty years ago) link

i've been consistently saying dumb shit here for almost three years now

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Friday, 9 April 2004 01:03 (twenty years ago) link

ilx as a whole is still pretty informative in a roundabout way. and it's funny.

g--ff (gcannon), Friday, 9 April 2004 01:03 (twenty years ago) link

when you go to a party do you need to talk to everyone all the time?

g--ff (gcannon), Friday, 9 April 2004 01:12 (twenty years ago) link

I lurked on ILM for a long time, cause reading threads was cool and all, but I rarely have all that much to say about music if it's more than making a list.

I sort of assume lurkers aren't reading as many threads as a lot of regulars do, too.

Tep (ktepi), Friday, 9 April 2004 01:14 (twenty years ago) link

And what Ned said, too, kind of: most posting by regulars is content-free, the whole overquoted McLuhan bumper sticker thing, etc.; that makes sense once you start posting, but presumably most people don't make their first post until they feel they have something to say.

Okay, that isn't really what Ned said, I don't think.
