why no 'Fellowship Of The Ring' - sure it came out at Christmas 2001 but i think Xmas films from the previous year should always be included in the following year's poll - i didnt see the film until 2002 (if my memory serves correct) - same goes for Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back - a very entertaining film i thought, were hardcore Kevin Smith fans really disappointed by it?

Since the two LOTR films were released a year apart, and the second one makes a strong showing, I don't see grounds for wanting the first in there too.

Looking at my ballot, I see I voted for the wrong Harry Potter, but I'm guessing it wouldn't have placed anyway?

Ghost World was 2001 though - in the UK and US. I thought that Aturanjurat was 2001 until I checked for my top 40. The large spliot of voting ILE/ILM I assume is generally equal to the larger number of ILM posters, respondees. It shows however that ILE is the home of the Lord Of The Rings and SPider-Man fans (ie so called Low Culture rules on ILE). Unless you count out Y Tu Mama Tambien which shows Mexico and wanking into swimming pools roolz.

Yeah, Ghost World (in the UK, anyway) came out the same week as the first Harry Potter film (2001), thus meaning outside of London, no fucker got to see it in a cinema. A great film, though, obviously.

Ghost World was released in Belgium in 2002, which is why I voted for it.

'Signs' too low, 'Scratch' too high. Other than that, not a bad result overall. Clearly, I need to see 'Donnie Darko' soon.

A) Judging by the number of 2K1 US releases, the Yanks didn't bother to turn up (or Adaptation would've won). Well done, fellow Commonwealthians, we've scared them off!

B) Copy my Afropop complaint from the albums poll; change to foreign film.

C) Even given this, I can't believe not one of you voted for Time Out, rendering my 30 points useless. I think internationally staggered release dates hit the quality of this poll compared to the others (that and the fact you're all hopeless) - the date limit might be more manageable, if ungainly, if it was "best movie made since 2000". Still, I like seven of the top ten (and I'll certainly adore Spirited Away when it comes out) and I can give Time Out 30 points again next year.

a) Not as good as Resources Humaine
b) In the end a film about a bloke not going to work is always going to be a touch, how you say, slow.
