Having crushes on people you talk to on the internet

Crushes come, and crushes go .... the one you have will probably fade in time, so why not enjoy it while it lasts? Being sweet on someone you'll never meet doesn't necessarily mean it's going to do any harm to any real life relationships you have, but it might perhaps have flagged up the fact there's something missing in your day-to-day life which might need to be addressed.

Having said that, I have mentioned lots of people I have crushes on here, on various occasions. This place is full of smart, funny, likeable, sexy people, so I'd be amazed if I didn't have several crushes. I have no intention of ever trying to make anything out of them - I mean, the London crowd has plenty of people I find hugely appealing, but I am not looking for a partner, and in any case if I were, I don't see any of them as likely to be interested in the likes of me, and I wouldn't like to make the friendships less comfy.

I don't think I have ever had a proper crush on anyone via the internet. I don't really do crushes any more anyway. I'm sure I must have done in the past, but, like the memory of pain, I can't remember it anymore.

Wow. That's like the sort of anecdote Simon Pegg would think of including in Spaced but would dismiss it on the grounds of it being too pathetic to be credible.

i have a bad crush on a girl from a message board. we talk regularly on msn, really do seem to have lots and lots in common (to a surprising level), and i wonder if she thinks the same. we dont really flirt as such though, just talk lots. so maybe she doesnt. im quite aware it will probably come to nothing of course, but its nice nuts to fantasise about these things.

I have crushes on a large number of people I talk to here, on AIM, etc. It's nothing terribly serious generally, and it seems harmless.
