Now, when visiting teams come to play, fans are greeted by deafening chants of: "You're only here for the culture".

always get telford mixed up with ironbridge, because thomas telford specialised in iron bridges
but is there an iron bridge there too

ironbridge is actually pretty nice, i escaped to there last night and had a decent pub meal, it was pretty and had heart to it. telford is obv not meant for residence, footpaths end, there are no homes, there are no non-chain restaurants. it's still sort of amazing that even a space for workers is so completely devoid of anything else.

have you made it into wellington yet? = another nice little old shropshire town, not swallowed up by telford bcz the m54 cuts one from the other
i remember frank chicken kazuko hohki making a documentary abt the japanese community in telford back in the 80s or early 90s (it doesn't seem to be on youtube under an english title)

ironbridge > wellington tho, prettiness-wise

Didn't want to talk about it on FB but the last time I went to Telford was over 30 years ago and it was a mini-roundabout of Hell back then
