nách tí bhean? almost translates to "is there a woman of the house?" which is a good portentous type of intro to something i think, i mean it's def a bit garbled and simplified but imagine brendan fraser playing connemara man (encino man in the US rly?) and it prob works

local eire man (darraghmac), Thursday, 16 October 2014 00:08 (eleven years ago)

nakhchivan, Monday, 5 January 2015 23:22 (eleven years ago)

take out the distortions and it'd be strictly ok I guess

local eire man (darraghmac), Monday, 5 January 2015 23:25 (eleven years ago)

the other week i was thinking while intoxicated that it is almost a template for that very early oasis sound, give or take a little less monody and distortion and a bit more t rex beatles football chants etc etc

nakhchivan, Monday, 5 January 2015 23:27 (eleven years ago)

its a bit that ok, but I'd go status quo/trex/slade first before assuming noely g was spreading wings any wider

local eire man (darraghmac), Tuesday, 6 January 2015 00:02 (eleven years ago)

yes i wasnt suggesting he was copying spacemen 3, although its not too unlikely thar he heard them

he probably he did borrow something from ride, chapterhouse etc who were following in their slipstream

nakhchivan, Tuesday, 6 January 2015 00:10 (eleven years ago)

youd possibly like the first two albums by ride actually, assuming you dont already know them or think they are shit

nakhchivan, Tuesday, 6 January 2015 00:15 (eleven years ago)

I will check em out &thks

I dont v often think "thats shit" but I do tend towards "I dont rly need to hear anything right now" and then its even more seldom I need that anything to be new iykwim

quite
what qualifies him for that honour
ive still not read more than a chapter of that book

no love deb weep (nakhchivan), Friday, 20 February 2015 13:40 (eleven years ago)

idk there's a selection committee he's a returned emigrant who's settled in Kerry and writes poems and has gotten a bit of notice so I guess that and being from down the road got him this years gig

I know nothing of boll and only a little of Camille souter or paul henry truly I eschew the arts as packaged to us simple islanders

local eire man (darraghmac), Friday, 20 February 2015 13:52 (eleven years ago)

idk who either of those are

no love deb weep (nakhchivan), Friday, 20 February 2015 13:55 (eleven years ago)

I feel better so

local eire man (darraghmac), Friday, 20 February 2015 14:08 (eleven years ago)

paul henry could be the name of a water engineer from westport

no love deb weep (nakhchivan), Friday, 20 February 2015 14:10 (eleven years ago)

he'd be from the Newport side tbh in fact to my experience he'd be from polranny lynchehaun (not polranny sweeney)

post you had fecund thoughts about (darraghmac), Tuesday, 3 March 2015 01:12 (eleven years ago)

thank you darraghmac for welcoming drunkposting insufferable me to ilx

was a fan even as a lurker, yet your kindness surprised me; goodhearted ye are

tbh sometimes don’t understand your posts (I’d need like Ulysses Annotated) but always esteem them anyway

drash, Sunday, 15 March 2015 14:21 (eleven years ago)

deems's posts can be dense sure, although there have been disagreements as to which sense of that word applies

prole, you'll be a yeoman soon (wins), Sunday, 15 March 2015 14:26 (eleven years ago)

Darragh I'm reading the coldest eye, have you read it and if not can you read it and comment on the accuracy of every declaration made about "The Irish"

prole, you'll be a yeoman soon (wins), Sunday, 15 March 2015 14:28 (eleven years ago)

Oops, a colder eye I mean
/tipsy

prole, you'll be a yeoman soon (wins), Sunday, 15 March 2015 14:34 (eleven years ago)

hi drash, I'm as cuddly and soft as it gets. I dont know where I get a rep otherwise tbh. also the hard to understand thing baffles me but maybe its the accent. idk. hi anyway.

wins ive read v little apart from mediocre to good teen fantasy the past few years due to college pressures and a frankly appalling attn span but if you recommend a synopsis or offer what you feel to be a representative quote I'll happily critique the entire work

post you had fecund thoughts about (darraghmac), Sunday, 15 March 2015 15:45 (eleven years ago)

New q can you recommend some teen fantasy

prole, you'll be a yeoman soon (wins), Sunday, 15 March 2015 15:49 (eleven years ago)

like, ive been called obtuse a good bit this past year, which is a projected judgement of my motive/position in arguments and usually quite incorrect imo but normally its wins or nakh so its ok, sometimes by eg stevie or xelab posters I like but I tend to annoy and thats ok and sometimes its by genuine honest to god idiots, confused by toasters morons, in which case eh you can only shrug I spose

but to be called obtuse by afl posters is a bit lol tho im a fan of all there obv

post you had fecund thoughts about (darraghmac), Sunday, 15 March 2015 15:50 (eleven years ago)

xp I cannot, my tastes have been comfort reading of the lowest sort and my recommendations would invariably appall.

I'd recommend stuff to raggett maybe, we've liked same stuff before. I might expand now that my evenings are free but it might be mainly about pensions from now on have u read any good pensions stuff

post you had fecund thoughts about (darraghmac), Sunday, 15 March 2015 15:54 (eleven years ago)

ACE is a v amusing account of "the modern Irish writers" by the American Hugh Kenner, here is an early tidbit:

The Irish story is more complicated. Plenty of the reading matter and acting matter they produce seems intended for natives alone, but Irish writers have always been naggingly aware that Irishmen do not as a rule buy books, have never bought them, have even inherited a tradition whereby to write when you might be talking is an unnatural act. Books in England are sacred objects, exempt from the 10-percent Value Added Tax: not (until 1 April 1982) in Ireland.
