Gloucester can be pretty seedy too though. Someone in a bar there once stole my shoes.

Airwrecka Bliptrap Blapmantis (ENBB), Monday, 9 June 2014 15:09 (twelve years ago)

I like it even though I'm still bitter about the shoe incident.

If you go to conn drive the Merritt Parkway

Everything else kinda sucks imo

, Monday, 9 June 2014 15:34 (twelve years ago)

yeah the merrit owns

lag∞n, Monday, 9 June 2014 15:35 (twelve years ago)

yea it's a good drive. was kind of a miracle when we started driving the merritt instead of 95 to visit my in-laws in fairfield. that stretch of 95 is one of my top 3 worst highways in the country

marcos, Monday, 9 June 2014 15:37 (twelve years ago)

As someone who lives within the Louisiana Purchase, parkways are such a novelty to me.

pplains, Monday, 9 June 2014 15:37 (twelve years ago)

I think if you do 95 entering from NY there's a cool bridge you drive across. But yeah that's an awful stretch

, Monday, 9 June 2014 15:38 (twelve years ago)

i gotta get down to the whaling museum but i have been programmed to avoid the entire rt. 24/495 triangle

call all destroyer, Monday, 9 June 2014 15:38 (twelve years ago)

Do they call it a parkway because there are areas every few miles where you can park

That's amazing

, Monday, 9 June 2014 15:39 (twelve years ago)

It's not an interstate, it's not a Route 66... it's a limited-access highway that goes through people's backyards.

pplains, Monday, 9 June 2014 15:39 (twelve years ago)

yea no trucks too

marcos, Monday, 9 June 2014 15:40 (twelve years ago)

bqe > grand central pkwy > whitstone bridge > hutchinson pkwy > merritt pkwy > wilber cross pkwy > almost to hartford

the route of gods

lag∞n, Monday, 9 June 2014 15:46 (twelve years ago)

The pizza in new haven is okay I never actually went to sals or pepes the storefronts I would always just eat the free stuff they delivered

Modern's is good only because they call it apizza instead of pizza

BAR had good mashed potato pizza before it became a thing I think plus they brew their own beer

My favorite actually was brick oven pizza which I think is a chain

Don't go to Louis Lunch it's a scam

, Monday, 9 June 2014 15:46 (twelve years ago)

Now there's a shake shack (that got closed for some kind of infestation or something) and a chipotle and I bet a billion other chains haha suck it new haven

, Monday, 9 June 2014 15:47 (twelve years ago)

the merritt also has my fav tree

the taconic has to win the whiteknuckle award tho, recall driving on that shit during a thunderstorm my lord

lag∞n, Monday, 9 June 2014 15:49 (twelve years ago)

the best conn pizza is in mystic tho

lag∞n, Monday, 9 June 2014 15:49 (twelve years ago)

sally's is sublime. apparently they are trying to sell the place though, pretty sad.

BAR definitely does not have the old world new haven italian charm but tbf their pizza is really good. beer is nothing special but it's nice enough.

somehow i have never been to the original pepe's, i've been to the fairfield one and it's great.

marcos, Monday, 9 June 2014 15:50 (twelve years ago)

My favorite anecdote about new haven is this apocryphal story I heard there

That new haven and new york were both major ports back in the 19th century and were comparable

Then some law or something happened so they diverted all the ships to New York and not New Haven

If only this reg hadn't done that then New Haven would have been as big as New York today

It makes me smile because I'm like... aw that's sweet but don't kid yourselves

, Monday, 9 June 2014 15:51 (twelve years ago)

I just checked on google maps and Sally's has apizza in their name too. Apizza apizza apizza apizza

, Monday, 9 June 2014 15:52 (twelve years ago)

new haven also has a mamoun's falafel joint that it is open super late and has really cheap falafel and all kinds of cool rugs on the walls:

, Monday, 9 June 2014 15:54 (twelve years ago)

is it a huge fake tree? i may be confusing it with a large fake tree on the mass pike. or somewhere between CT and boston

marcos, Monday, 9 June 2014 15:55 (twelve years ago)

its just a cool normal tree that maybe also sends out cellular signals nbd keep driving

lag∞n, Monday, 9 June 2014 15:55 (twelve years ago)

marcos, Monday, 9 June 2014 15:55 (twelve years ago)
