so, in case i wasn't before, i do want to be 100% clear that Nicole did not send me abusive ilxmail. in the context i don't want anyone to think for a second that might have been true. i of course was assuming that everyone here knows she is the least likely person to do something like that, which is the joke, but that's not always a safe assumption to make. i was 100% sincere when i said she is the best though.

turangalila is another poster who has yelled at nicole before when she was being a jerk. that was the entirety of my communication. hers was to call that poster a rapist.

so nobody else reads that as nicole questioning Mordy's intention, w/r/t the bizarre hostility of dragging turangalila into it so that he & Mordy can gang up on nicole in the context of a conversation about rape jokes.

iirc (and it is sufficiently ancient that i had forgot it, tho mordy had not) most found turang's beef with nicole unaccountably OTT at the time. it's a particularly nasty form of petulance to bring it up in a different context imo

Sorry I'm missing something here. Why did Nicole say "why, so he can rape me?" and "I'm not jokiing". No matter how upstanding a poster is, in what realm is that funny or OK?

i think in the context it made sense as a thing to say, a bit over the top, but i don't think it counts as a "rape joke" of the tosh.0 variety or something, as the implication was the opposite. she was calling attention to what she saw as mordy's sexist condescension in response to her complaint that he derailed a thread about the social harm caused by rape jokes. regardless, i think people should stop "piling on" mordy because both he and nicole are very good posters.
