today i met a very tiny indignant elderly lady outside a boarded up darrel lea store who blamed the closure on anna bligh and then told me her friend's neighbour who lives in the same block of units works for the state government and all he does all day is sit around playing cards and she can't wait for julia gillard to get kicked out and for tony abbott to get in and while she was telling me all this i was intrigued to see a large glass jar full of rocky road that was prominently displayed in the darkened window and that the staff must have put there after they were laid off and then i asked her if she knew that the new queensland campbell government has now cancelled the breastscreen program and she said 'good'.

Angry letter I'm sending to every ALP email I can get my hands on:

To the MPs and Senators of the Australian Labor Party:

My wife and I are expecting the birth of our daughter early in 2013. If all goes as expected, that means that she will be growing up in an Australia with Tony Abbott as its Prime Minister. For obvious reasons, this depresses and appals me.

It’s time you all started working together to sort yourselves out. Attacking the Greens is the latest in a long run of idiotic ALP moves. I know it must be galling to have to work each day with people who haven’t sold themselves out on every issue, but it’s ludicrous to be picking a fight over preferences—an issue which only concerns the votes of the sort of politically disengaged and/or terminally confused people who can’t number more than one box—when the huge and obvious danger is the Coalition.

How much do you pay your PR people? Here’s a free idea for an ad. Thirty seconds of video, edited together from news reports, of Tony Abbott laughing. He is a loathsome, aggressive, lying, bullying bigot—and he’s more popular than any of you.
Grow some backbone. Stop acting like a pale imitation of the Liberal Party—those voters who want to elect racists, corporate shills and anti-science fundamentalists are going to vote for the Coalition anyway, so stop chasing their ballots. The sort of people who look at Sophie Mirabella, Barnaby Joyce, Bronwyn Bishop or Greg Hunt and think ‘What a good idea!’ are a dead loss to you and to the rest of the thinking public. Forget about them.

Some suggestions to start with: Stop shitting on refugees. Stop backing down on issues like poker machine restrictions. Stop being piss-weak on the cruel and abhorrent export of live animals. Stop mining and fuel exploration in environmentally sensitive areas. And for the love of all that is good and pure in this world, stop Craig Emerson from singing and dancing.

Yours in desperate expectation of a future worth living in,

James Morrison

James how can I credit you if I wanted to C&P that to the facebook of an ALP obsessed agitator friend?

Sandy Borehole (S-), Friday, 10 August 2012 03:43 (thirteen years ago)

Also in regards to ATP, apart from MBV I've either seen or CBF about the other acts mentioned. Maybe you wanna break it down for me Jim?

Sandy Borehole (S-), Friday, 10 August 2012 03:45 (thirteen years ago)

dead c, neubauten. poss swans if you still like that sort of thing. hearing talk of bailter space. mbv are the only true drawcard for me, the others i'll see just because they're there

we know about this ---˃ (electricsound), Friday, 10 August 2012 03:47 (thirteen years ago)

Seen Dead C in NZ and EN in Berlin, on the fence about Swans.

Sandy Borehole (S-), Friday, 10 August 2012 03:53 (thirteen years ago)

I'm up for Swans just cause eveyone says theyre a dece live act. Also, this is just the initial lineup, could be more goodness to come.

Lot of peeps I know are only going to day2, much preferring Neubauten and Beasts (damn swampies).

Pureed Moods (Trayce), Friday, 10 August 2012 03:54 (thirteen years ago)

Sandy, please feel free to repost it! I guess just use my name, which is James Morrison. I have a non-political blog at http://causticcovercritic.blogspot.com.au/ if that helps.
