arnott's shjapes (haitch), Wednesday, 29 February 2012 00:49 (fourteen years ago)

OMG that article about in the age is making me REALLY ANGRY.

Its a complete fucking non-story, but HEAVEN FORFEND ANYONE INSULT A "WAR HERO". like thats all the article can wank on about, is this guy is a "war hero" who "singlehandedly something something enemies"

It just... rargh. The Age has completely turned into a tabloid rag.

Lindsay NAGL (Trayce), Wednesday, 29 February 2012 01:10 (fourteen years ago)

To be fair that show is a disgrace

badg, Wednesday, 29 February 2012 01:33 (fourteen years ago)

arnott's shjapes (haitch), Wednesday, 29 February 2012 01:55 (fourteen years ago)

I like how the absence of any show being named means we can just assume it refers to any Australian TV show and ^^^

except Woodley or Media Watch

Θ ̨Θƪ (sic), Wednesday, 29 February 2012 01:56 (fourteen years ago)

Ha. Sad but tru. Still havent seen Woodley yet tho btw, everyone's been raving about it.

Lindsay NAGL (Trayce), Wednesday, 29 February 2012 02:11 (fourteen years ago)

ep 2 on tonight, ep 1 still on iView for another seven days

Θ ̨Θƪ (sic), Wednesday, 29 February 2012 02:27 (fourteen years ago)

Woodley is too good to be Australian imo

Wub wub wub wubwubwubwub wub Pzzzzzzz WUBB wubwub (Autumn Almanac), Wednesday, 29 February 2012 04:13 (fourteen years ago)

i.e. it's actually genuinely properly good, as opposed to the whole 'aww they did their best, 8/10' assessment we tend to bestow on the bulk of our shallow crap

Wub wub wub wubwubwubwub wub Pzzzzzzz WUBB wubwub (Autumn Almanac), Wednesday, 29 February 2012 04:14 (fourteen years ago)

let's not get carried away, it's had one episode

arnott's shjapes (haitch), Wednesday, 29 February 2012 04:52 (fourteen years ago)

if ep 1 were a tropfest entrant it would win the universe, is what i'm saying

Wub wub wub wubwubwubwub wub Pzzzzzzz WUBB wubwub (Autumn Almanac), Wednesday, 29 February 2012 05:12 (fourteen years ago)

2's not quite as good as 1 but 3 is fantastic iirc

Θ ̨Θƪ (sic), Wednesday, 29 February 2012 06:18 (fourteen years ago)

So, The Age reported on the weekend that the veges sold at CERES farm are "banned" due to unacceptable lead levels in some of the food. It went on to say inflammatory shit like "no one's been sick but lead can stay in the body for YEARS OMG WTF"

...CERES have released several press releases since then saying no, the food that is SOLD at the site has never been part of the one small contanimation found; subsequent testing has also not shown a problem, the EPA say the site as a whole is ok - and nothing was ever "banned" by anyone to start with.

Has the Age retracted its article? Has it fuck.

Hmmm yes, anti hippy articles mere weeks after Gina Reinhart gets her flabby fingers into the Fairfax boardroom... what a coink.

Lindsay NAGL (Trayce), Sunday, 4 March 2012 23:13 (fourteen years ago)

stirring their own demographic - typical brunswicky-dwelling CERES visitor probably reads the age still.

look how many grrrls still put "i like to read the age on saturdays!" on dating profiles!!

arnott's shjapes (haitch), Sunday, 4 March 2012 23:25 (fourteen years ago)

They do? Uggghh. TBF the people into CERES are as likely to see the sites press release as well as/before the age article anyway but its unfair for the average reader to see ENVIRO FARM BANNED DUE TO LEAD POISONING LOL all over the front page with no clarification.

Lindsay NAGL (Trayce), Sunday, 4 March 2012 23:39 (fourteen years ago)

Not that Ive ever even been to CERES all this said. Lawl.

Lindsay NAGL (Trayce), Sunday, 4 March 2012 23:39 (fourteen years ago)

CERESous business

arnott's shjapes (haitch), Sunday, 4 March 2012 23:50 (fourteen years ago)

Bit difficult to figure out what the Age's target demographic is any more. Mental patients?

badg, Monday, 5 March 2012 06:01 (fourteen years ago)

people who feel the herald sun is too right wing but don't really understand what that even means

some crap (electricsound), Monday, 5 March 2012 06:04 (fourteen years ago)

whoever said that the summer versh of the sun, when bolta et al are on holiday, is a delightful mix of sports coverage and cat pictures was OTM

arnott's shjapes (haitch), Monday, 5 March 2012 06:06 (fourteen years ago)

Yeah I have NFI what the hell Fairfax are doing anymore. There's a ballsy article in the business section today that basically says "all rich people are buying govt influence and here are a load of examples" which was pretty startling, but that aside the whole things gone to shit and I have NFI what to read anymore.

Medical Dance Crab With Lesson (Trayce), Monday, 5 March 2012 06:27 (fourteen years ago)

right-wing is handy shorthand for bigots (esp. now that right-wing no longer has a mainstream context)

Wayne "Swanee" Swan rightly points out that the mining moguls are a bunch of dicks.

Along the way, curiously — and there’s a master’s thesis in this for some thoughtful politics student — the drinks associated with these sinister groups changed — it used to be “chardonnay socialists” in the ’80s, but like the puritans they are, this gave way to coffee, with the latté serving as an appropriate marker of unworldly know-it-allness, before soy milk replaced it as the current ornament of inner-city snobbery

loooooooooooooool

some crap (electricsound), Tuesday, 6 March 2012 05:38 (fourteen years ago)

I love how when someone vaguely insults a guy its death threats and "how dare u he is a WAR HERO" but when women have to put up with a continuous barrage of "slut", "fat bitch", "whore" etc etc from all corners, people say "oh get a sense of humour". The SAME people, usually.

Medical Dance Crab With Lesson (Trayce), Tuesday, 6 March 2012 05:48 (fourteen years ago)
