guys i had never heard of air australia before it went bust
hate to brag but i was telling people that their business plan of "flying bogans to phuket and hawaii in leased turkish planes" was never gonna be a going months ago
― Cold Chisel dude Cold Chisel (King Boy Pato), Tuesday, 21 February 2012 11:37 (fourteen years ago)
the most absurdist part of this whole saga was that "flying charters for mining companies" was the original plan btw

I've been saying "since Micallef Program/me." It's just wonderful. And amazing that something so well-thought-out, so good-looking, with production values that support the comedy, has made it through the system and onto air. I hope the absence of any necessary dialogue whatsoever lets it get sold to half the world and make Woodley rich (enough to make some more of these).

The utter contempt displayed towards public transport users with the current ad campaign on trams advertising just how much you're going to get fined. Oh, and Myki, again.

I like how the absence of any show being named means we can just assume it refers to any Australian TV show and ^^^
except Woodley or Media Watch

Ha. Sad but tru. Still havent seen Woodley yet tho btw, everyone's been raving about it.

So, The Age reported on the weekend that the veges sold at CERES farm are "banned" due to unacceptable lead levels in some of the food. It went on to say inflammatory shit like "no one's been sick but lead can stay in the body for YEARS OMG WTF"
...CERES have released several press releases since then saying no, the food that is SOLD at the site has never been part of the one small contanimation found; subsequent testing has also not shown a problem, the EPA say the site as a whole is ok - and nothing was ever "banned" by anyone to start with.
Has the Age retracted its article? Has it fuck.
Hmmm yes, anti hippy articles mere weeks after Gina Reinhart gets her flabby fingers into the Fairfax boardroom... what a coink.
― Lindsay NAGL (Trayce), Sunday, 4 March 2012 23:13 (fourteen years ago)
stirring their own demographic - typical brunswicky-dwelling CERES visitor probably reads the age still.
look how many grrrls still put "i like to read the age on saturdays!" on dating profiles!!
― arnott's shjapes (haitch), Sunday, 4 March 2012 23:25 (fourteen years ago)
They do? Uggghh. TBF the people into CERES are as likely to see the sites press release as well as/before the age article anyway but its unfair for the average reader to see ENVIRO FARM BANNED DUE TO LEAD POISONING LOL all over the front page with no clarification.
― Lindsay NAGL (Trayce), Sunday, 4 March 2012 23:39 (fourteen years ago)
Not that Ive ever even been to CERES all this said. Lawl.

― arnott's shjapes (haitch), Monday, 5 March 2012 06:06 (fourteen years ago)
Yeah I have NFI what the hell Fairfax are doing anymore. There's a ballsy article in the business section today that basically says "all rich people are buying govt influence and here are a load of examples" which was pretty startling, but that aside the whole things gone to shit and I have NFI what to read anymore.
― Medical Dance Crab With Lesson (Trayce), Monday, 5 March 2012 06:27 (fourteen years ago)
right-wing is handy shorthand for bigots (esp. now that right-wing no longer has a mainstream context)

Along the way, curiously — and there’s a master’s thesis in this for some thoughtful politics student — the drinks associated with these sinister groups changed — it used to be “chardonnay socialists” in the ’80s, but like the puritans they are, this gave way to coffee, with the latté serving as an appropriate marker of unworldly know-it-allness, before soy milk replaced it as the current ornament of inner-city snobbery

I love how when someone vaguely insults a guy its death threats and "how dare u he is a WAR HERO" but when women have to put up with a continuous barrage of "slut", "fat bitch", "whore" etc etc from all corners, people say "oh get a sense of humour". The SAME people, usually.
