wha'happen? not the Star W4rs painter dude who got outraged that a comic book for grown-ups had a breastfeeding scene with no exposed boob and that this made it unsuitable for children I assume

no that's from a crikey reaction toon to deodorantgate
― back in gloom (electricsound), Tuesday, 10 January 2012 05:01 (fourteen years ago)
*googles*
To be honest I really wanted to get some more Jack Daniels steak sauce but I have a bunch of different kinds of steak sauce that I had got to try and didn't really care for but I knew if I tried to push for steak sauce it would be Deodorantgate all over again. So I decided not to press my luck. It all worked out. I had to give up my surge protector to make my dad's DVD player work but he's all set up now.
oh ok

Am so depressed by the general commentariat on deodorantgate, too. I mean ya rly, aussies be all idiots, but fuck its like playing racism bingo with all the comments of "pc correctness", "pc gone mad", "there I said it", "she just said what we're all thinking" and "lol taxi drivers stink". &Y^&%&^

Yeah he is getting on in years anyway and it sounds like his brain damage has been pretty substantial - he's def most likely to be in assisted care the rest of his life I reckon. so sad.

tbh i'm a bit confused as to why people think he's coming back, but i'm not exactly unignorant about such matters
― fitzroy institution (electricsound), Monday, 30 January 2012 05:30 (fourteen years ago)
people think he's coming back because (1) incumbent is shit (2) incumbent is hell of unpopular (3) they are desperate for anything atm (4) they don't know how caucus feels
i'm not exactly unignorant about such matters
hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Yah I assume its more "he should come back because look at the fckin alternative".
Ditto Turnbull. Shit, if Turnbull was up, Labor might as well pack up and go home.
― thanks to denial, I'm immortal! (Trayce), Monday, 30 January 2012 06:12 (fourteen years ago)
otm.
George Megalogenis did a piece for November's Communist Times Monthly in which he suggested Turnbull is the only fucking proper actual potential leader since Keating, and the only one who is willing to promote social issues and economic reform at the same time.

[Julian Knight] said if he was not granted parole he would be the first murderer in 175 years of Victorian legal history to be given a non-parole period and then not be paroled.
But Justice Osborn pointed out that in the past many murderers had been sentenced to be "hung by the neck until dead".
..yeah, great to know thats not an option anymore then isnt it, Justice Osborn! Bloody heck. I mean, it gasts my flabber that Knight keeps whining about wanting to be released, considering what he did, but ffs, what sort of help is it saying "well you're lucky we couldnt KILL you then arent we!"
― thanks to denial, I'm immortal! (Trayce), Monday, 30 January 2012 08:16 (fourteen years ago)
...meant to ital those first 2 paras.
"I certainly don't wish to be appearing here on a regular basis, I have got much more productive things to do with my time," Knight told the court.

Rudd was actually quite good but had the misfortune of leading a party full of self-interested hacks (check out Simon Crean's rant today as an example).
― Born To Meat Pie (King Boy Pato), Tuesday, 31 January 2012 08:14 (fourteen years ago)
Anyway, we're all fucked.
But I should say that Rudd's tea is quite good!!
― Born To Meat Pie (King Boy Pato), Tuesday, 31 January 2012 08:15 (fourteen years ago)
Rudd started the internet filter, he can go to hell.
― Autumn Almanac, Tuesday, 31 January 2012 08:19 (fourteen years ago)
I'm still convinced that was more of a thing to pretend they care about " good morals" to those who still care about that/distract Conroy from anything important rather than any actual censorship.
― Born To Meat Pie (King Boy Pato), Tuesday, 31 January 2012 09:51 (fourteen years ago)
Or more succinctly: giving the Catholic branch of the ALP a "win" without doing so.
― Born To Meat Pie (King Boy Pato), Tuesday, 31 January 2012 09:52 (fourteen years ago)
not good enough
― Autumn Almanac, Tuesday, 31 January 2012 09:55 (fourteen years ago)
Well, it's a cautionary tale on why the ALP needs be reformed pretty sharply if it is to have any sort of future, but I'm still able to access hardcore pornography think pieces on progressive politics and US TV shows, so I'm still only slightly offended by it all.
