"how can we monetise this monorail going forward"

unflushed deuce (Schlafsack), Monday, 9 January 2012 00:37 (fourteen years ago)

the monorail episode of the Simpsons is funny because it's true

hey guys hey guys LIGHT RAIL DOWN GEORGE STREET

(eventually, one day, we promise, cross our hearts, don't bring up "Sydney Metro")

Are 'Friends' Metric? (King Boy Pato), Monday, 9 January 2012 08:01 (fourteen years ago)

what the fuck is the puppy thrown out the window story my mom half explained to me on our weekly sat call????

I just got back from a dream attack (sunny successor), Monday, 9 January 2012 08:11 (fourteen years ago)

They better not put a tram line down George Street. I lived in Edinburgh during the construction of their delayed and over budget tram to the airport. For the entirety of my stay there were road works, road closures and general chaos from the main drag being ripped up for tram tracks. It was horrible and if Sydney decides to do the same thing I'm leaving until it's finished.

Someone threw a puppy out the window (that's roughly the point at which I changed channels)

btw, today's Oz headline:

HYGIENE LESSONS WILL HELP MIGRANTS INTEGRATE: COALITION

unflushed deuce (Schlafsack), Monday, 9 January 2012 21:06 (fourteen years ago)

When I stopped using deodorant the usual stink went away in a matter of weeks. Putting all those quickly absorbed chemicals under your armpits every day does nothing for your long term health. DON'T USE DEODORANT!!!!!

Australians are generally assertive enough to growl at those who push into queues. Migrants learn quickly.
As for deodorant... ever smelt the average Aussie tradie on a 40 degree day?
Darron | Melbourne | 10 January 2012, 6:54AM

Why are you sniffing tradies ??

Am so depressed by the general commentariat on deodorantgate, too. I mean ya rly, aussies be all idiots, but fuck its like playing racism bingo with all the comments of "pc correctness", "pc gone mad", "there I said it", "she just said what we're all thinking" and "lol taxi drivers stink". &Y^&%&^

prospect is bleak imo

Autumn Almanac (Schlafsack), Sunday, 29 January 2012 23:25 (fourteen years ago)

Yeah he is getting on in years anyway and it sounds like his brain damage has been pretty substantial - he's def most likely to be in assisted care the rest of his life I reckon. so sad.

Autumn Almanac (Schlafsack), Monday, 30 January 2012 05:29 (fourteen years ago)

tbh i'm a bit confused as to why people think he's coming back, but i'm not exactly unignorant about such matters

fitzroy institution (electricsound), Monday, 30 January 2012 05:30 (fourteen years ago)

people think he's coming back because (1) incumbent is shit (2) incumbent is hell of unpopular (3) they are desperate for anything atm (4) they don't know how caucus feels

i'm not exactly unignorant about such matters

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Autumn Almanac (Schlafsack), Monday, 30 January 2012 05:33 (fourteen years ago)

anyway either way it will be embarrassing to the last

fitzroy institution (electricsound), Monday, 30 January 2012 05:39 (fourteen years ago)

Autumn Almanac (Schlafsack), Monday, 30 January 2012 05:41 (fourteen years ago)

Yah I assume its more "he should come back because look at the fckin alternative".

Ditto Turnbull. Shit, if Turnbull was up, Labor might as well pack up and go home.

thanks to denial, I'm immortal! (Trayce), Monday, 30 January 2012 06:12 (fourteen years ago)

otm.

George Megalogenis did a piece for November's Communist Times Monthly in which he suggested Turnbull is the only fucking proper actual potential leader since Keating, and the only one who is willing to promote social issues and economic reform at the same time.

[Julian Knight] said if he was not granted parole he would be the first murderer in 175 years of Victorian legal history to be given a non-parole period and then not be paroled.

But Justice Osborn pointed out that in the past many murderers had been sentenced to be "hung by the neck until dead".

..yeah, great to know thats not an option anymore then isnt it, Justice Osborn! Bloody heck. I mean, it gasts my flabber that Knight keeps whining about wanting to be released, considering what he did, but ffs, what sort of help is it saying "well you're lucky we couldnt KILL you then arent we!"

thanks to denial, I'm immortal! (Trayce), Monday, 30 January 2012 08:16 (fourteen years ago)

"I certainly don't wish to be appearing here on a regular basis, I have got much more productive things to do with my time," Knight told the court.
