murdoch press controlling politics, again

Autumn Almanac (Schlafsack), Thursday, 3 November 2011 00:23 (fourteen years ago)

When Speaker Harry Jenkins told him to return to the motion's subject matter, Mr Pyne complained of government interjections.

Mr Jenkins told him not to be a "precious petal".

The Lamb Lies Down On Cavill Avenue (King Boy Pato), Thursday, 3 November 2011 02:09 (fourteen years ago)

The Lamb Lies Down On Cavill Avenue (King Boy Pato), Sunday, 13 November 2011 10:09 (fourteen years ago)

got our highly specific and helpful smart meter installation scheduling information, telling us that we will lose our power for an hour inside a very specific TWO WEEK PERIOD

Autumn Almanac, Monday, 14 November 2011 07:48 (fourteen years ago)

so, at some point within a fortnight our power will be cut without notice

not that we regularly work from fucking home or anything

Autumn Almanac, Monday, 14 November 2011 07:48 (fourteen years ago)

I think you can refuse them being put in or something? Also hows it work when you rent? My house is old and my wiring is way dodgy, I admit I'm a bit worried about the fires some ppl have had from this shit :/

Trayce, Monday, 14 November 2011 07:58 (fourteen years ago)

I dunno, I think the meter is outside but y'know telling us the actual day that it will happen would be useful, not "guhhhh before the rapture"

cocks

Autumn Almanac, Monday, 14 November 2011 08:00 (fourteen years ago)

there is a very real danger of you not even knowing this has happened until after it's over:((((

badg, Monday, 14 November 2011 11:15 (fourteen years ago)

I don't see why they can't run a schedule, basically

Wilco Pump Pant (Schlafsack), Monday, 14 November 2011 21:22 (fourteen years ago)

My best mate was working for the company that was developing the smartmeters and the wimax network and thanks to that, and some shit he's told me, frankly I dont want one anywhere near any house I live in, in the state theyre in right now. Trust me on this.

Trayce, Monday, 14 November 2011 22:25 (fourteen years ago)

I trust you

Wilco Pump Pant (Schlafsack), Monday, 14 November 2011 22:30 (fourteen years ago)

The disorganisation I heard about was o_0.

Trayce, Monday, 14 November 2011 22:53 (fourteen years ago)

Planningtocockblock (haitch), Monday, 14 November 2011 23:30 (fourteen years ago)

dogs in hot cardies (electricsound), Monday, 14 November 2011 23:31 (fourteen years ago)

big concerns round my way:

- evil non-residents using the apt block bins
- evil non-residents taking the limited parking spots
- couch that mysteriously appeared in ground floor lobby, stayed a week, then disappeared again -> wtf even is this

Planningtocockblock (haitch), Monday, 14 November 2011 23:38 (fourteen years ago)

My guess: someone nicked it off hard rubbish, realised they couldnt get it up the stairs, couldnt work out what to do with it?

Trayce, Monday, 14 November 2011 23:47 (fourteen years ago)

Haitch where u gonna fit another couch in your joint?

Franz Kappa (S-), Monday, 14 November 2011 23:48 (fourteen years ago)

one month passes...

Sydney's useless monorail under threat of being torn down in four years if the Government stumps up $60 million to buy it back from the owners, to facilitate redevelopment of Darling Harbour convention centre.

Along the way, it had beaten some other, more radical alternatives. There had been a serious proposal with the support of the National Trust and others for the monorail to be replaced with a ''Lazertube-Skywalk''.

This was 1980s-speak for a moving footpath from Town Hall, dipping underground in places. The Royal Australian Planning Institute thundered in the pages of the Herald in 1987 that it was a far more ''cost-effective'' option.

unflushed deuce (Schlafsack), Monday, 9 January 2012 00:13 (fourteen years ago)

Bahahah!

I've been to Syd quite a bit since that thing was built and never been on it. Does anyone actually use it apart from tourists as a novelty?

Trayce, Monday, 9 January 2012 00:13 (fourteen years ago)

I used it once, as a tourist

unflushed deuce (Schlafsack), Monday, 9 January 2012 00:14 (fourteen years ago)

i went on it once. you can't even see out of the windows, because they're covered in ads. fuck that monorail.

jabba hands, Monday, 9 January 2012 00:23 (fourteen years ago)

"how can we monetise this monorail going forward"

unflushed deuce (Schlafsack), Monday, 9 January 2012 00:37 (fourteen years ago)

the monorail episode of the Simpsons is funny because it's true

Θ ̨Θƪ (sic), Monday, 9 January 2012 00:49 (fourteen years ago)

I hopped on the Monorail and scored this exclusive picture:
