bmx c/d

i just got my soon to be 6 y/o a bmx bike. he's v. tall and has no problem w/ the two wheeler thing. im a little concerned about the hand brake only thing- his old bike had a coaster brake too. so anyway, i just came across this-- a cinelli/campy bmx. who knew?

i never have done bmx, so i have no opinion on this, except for i've known a couple very unhealthy dirt jumpers

the bottom bracket on that cinelli looks paper thin! scary

only diff is that my araya rims were also gold anodyzed to match the hubs/components. pretty fugly looking imo.

ive seen him crash a few times, and it hurts me every time.

My friends and I were totally into BMX like around 5th-6th grade. I used to read the BMX magazine at the school library even though I didn't really understand it, and we tried to make a vacant lot next to my friend's house into a BMX track with like jumps and stuff but I don't think we got too far.

my first two bikes were BMXes, i wasn't some gnarly trickster dude tho - was just what the kids in the neighbourhood were ridin'. first one was red and i seem to remember it had 'spokey dokeys' (CLASSIC); second one was metallic blue w/ purple five-spoke wheels, it was bad-ass.

lol i still have semi-vivid memory of crashing into a tree first time out when my dad was teaching me how to ride - was like i was locked onto that thing with a laser guide!

kiddo is having a hard time--the frame size is doable for kid-ly street riding, but the crank length (165mm!) is not good--it really folds him up.
