Yeah yeah. this outdoor clothing business is expensive. Ski wear, summer cycle wear, winter cycle wear, hiking gear... base layers I'd rather have quantity than quality.

i do all the time. i've got tons of jerseys, cutoff jerseys, longsleeve and insulated longsleeves tho. a good system for round here is shortsleeve w/armwarmers, then noninsulated l/s on top. mornings here can be 30, but warm to 50 in a couple hours. so, then you peel off the l/s, and--you still have jersey pockets for stuffing.

for training, "jackets", even your team jacket, are very uncool. they're flappy and overkill.

not saying baselayers are bad, just, don't use em much. i own them tho. i use them for xc skiing for example

i feel as if jerseys don't cling to your body and wick as well as a good winter baselayer does. in the 50-60s mornings i would wear a baselayer with a s/s jersey over it.

and the right fitting cycling jackets aren't flappy at all--see pet peeves thread for my distaste for flappy clothes

I HAVE A LONG SLEEVE CANNONDALE JERSEY THAT I USED FOR A BASE ON SUNDAY. WHEN I WAS KILLING THE TRAILS ON A SINGLESPEED.

i knew a guy who tailored his team jackets. his wife was handy with the sewing tho. i mostly on used them for registration and warm ups/course preview.

People are giving righteous flack about the expensive-ass "cycling" jeans that BikeSnob wrote up, but yo, I ride to get places so lycra is OOTQ, and all my jeans creep down my ass, and I realized over the weekend that I don't know how to attach U-lock for the ride unless I carry a whole bag (ended up bungee-tying it under saddle but eeeek), and all my pant-legs are greased due to short calves vs large chainring. I don't have $360 or wahtever, but I would love wearable clothes that solved those probs.

Actually, mini-dress + heavy tights solves it just fine, you just don't get any pockets with that.

Do not wear belts. Lock is not mini. Dresses have no pockets. Don't worry, I'll just keep bitching until I figure it all out.

i understand your quandary. forever i could not figure out how to wear my sidis and go to bars. i just stopped going to bars and everything worked out.

I was pretty pathetic srsly: first on Friday my light came unclipped from my pocket at some point when I stopped to drunkenly hike up incredb. tight jeans, and I lost blinker. Also I had to figure out how to strap clutch purse AND Ulock together under my saddle with one (1) bungee. Jeans chafed and were awful.

Bought new light Sat & attached it to bike. Wore mini + tights. Put all my shit in jacket pockets (requires wearing a baggy-ish jacket, though). Ulock still strapped under seat BUT it dislodged light in the middle of Metropolitan so I had to stop and go back in traffic for my blinker. THEN later a wad of cash managed to work OUT of pocket and fly in into the street, so I had to stop again, in traffic. Got home w/o further incident.

FINALLY ON SUNDAY I took the 3-speed in a pencil skirt and heels and had no incidents. Had to wear another baggy jacket, though.

i was eyeing up those racks (LOL BOOBS) the other day! i had spent too much time on the rivendell bike works website and was sort of disgusted with my ride. i sorta can't wait to get my schwinn fixed up and fitted out to carry basically everything.

tho a huge fan of grant peterson while he was at bridgestone (and an owner of an rb1, mb4 and mb1), rivendell is uber-fredly stuff.

I BOUGHT A CRAFT BASE TOP (AGAINST MY BETTER JUDGMENT) BUT IT HAD THE WIND PROOF FRONT, WHICH I LIKE AND BACK FLAP...WHICH I ALSO LIKE...IT WAS EXPENSIVE, WHICH I DONT LIKE.

NOT THAT TRON LOOKING ONE UP TOP...MORE BASIC
