No built-in tensioner. And of course, as a bolt axle noob, I pulled the wheel over on the way into work today, so I was loose chained and brakeless most of the way in. I thot I knew waht 300 in-lbs felt like.

Both my internal bikes have had semi-horiz drops for getting the chain pulled tight...? Both are/were old, though, I dunno what new ones are doing.

Hahah I worked out some kind of contortion involving clamping the back tire in my knees while I braced the frame with one hand and tightened the nuts with the other. Bike upside-down, natch.

The only wrench I could buy in a 5 block radius is a 6" adjustable. Downtown: bereft of hardware. AFAIK.

I have so many of those crappy adjustables (well, like three) from being out and needing one unexpectedly. I started just keeping one of the cheapies in my bag.

i used to keep one in my bag, but now it has gone missing. which is fine, actually, since my hubs are strong testimony for why using an adjustable wrench to get yr wheels on and off is really a terrible idea in the long run

do they round the bolt or su'in? what do i get? SKOOLME PLZ

adjustable wrenches have started rounding the edges of my nutz bigtime. i try and use a proper 15mm whenever possible

i found a specialized hybrid frameset only on craigslist for $20 that ive made into a racked flatbar commuter for missus. $20! sure its vintage 1994 with lots of paint chips and scuffs, but its in good shape otherwise.

so i transferred over my old commuter's bits, along with some drivetrain refurbs. it does not, however, feature powdercoated yellow semi deep section wheels. werent those on yr merckx?

Girlfriend slot already taken, I am prepared to consider concubines, though.

Wheels were on the Merckx which has had Xero XCR-1s for a while now. I did a bearing overhaul on them which should keep them going for a good while and if not it gives me a good idea of what to buy her for Xmas. (I am so happy that I have managed to persuade her to go from not cycled since childhood to happily trundling through the streets of brooklyn wanting a lighter, faster bike)
