ok wow that carradice bag got to me in colorado from lancs in 6 days total. meanwhile i've been battling to get parts from two different usa suppliers for almost 4 weeks. o my country.

so this bag seems pretty great for what i need. comfortable on the shoulder, easy to affix to the bike, looks normal enough that i dont have to transfer gear to another bag when i dont commute by bike.

Carradice stuff is damn good. I had an utterly indestructible pair of panniers made by them. What did you get?

bike bureau as pictured upthread. actually, silver/gray fastex buckles have been replaced by simple black on mine.

i looked at the arkel stuff which is highly rated, but their attachment system looks to be a pia for commuting (though bombproof). and more expensive, even after i paid 19 pounds for shipping.

I don't know - apparently I will be contacted by a Rapha rep to find out my size (fuck knows what size I am - large, I guess, but I always get it wrong). Actually, just found the competition - no, the winner wins the Hampsten stuff, I just get a jersey apparently, with complimentary arm-warmers!

i own a classic sportwool jersey. i don't wear it as much anymore because i have team kit but i wish i could wear it everyday.

Hey all I just got a new pair of shiny hand built wheels that are awesome. Thing is, the old cassette had to be replaced along with the sprocket since I have a 20 year old bike with 6-speeds.

Since this was done, the drivetrain is noisy, jumpy, and shifts strange. Any ideas whether this is a case of a lack of lube (sounds like a personal problem), something that will work itself out over time as the new cog teeth wear down a bit, a chain issue, or what? Maybe a question of derailleur adjustment? There is exactly one gear where it rides smoothly now.

Did you replace the chain as well? How many cogs on the new cassette? How many rings up front, or is it just one? If you're running 1x6, you're going to get a baddish chainline at either end of the cassette. A newer chain might be the fix?

So have you got a new 6-speed cassette, or is it 7+? Cos the chain that fits 6 speed will be large and sloppy on the narrower sprockets of a more extensive cassette and it certainly sounds like that could be the problem.

I didn't replace the chain, was thinking of that. It's a 2x6.

I will look into taking some pics tonight perhaps.

This weekend I have to compile a list of the things I'll need for my Paris ride. One of those bags that goes behind the saddle, y/n?

i bought the wrongest looking saddle the other day to replace the ripped one on my commuter. yet to try it tho

I have seen them as cheap as £240 (including maps and cadence sensors, but not heart rate).
