when I'd rather be sleeping

Again, I 100% agree BUT occasionally it's worth doing something outside your comfort zone. And this is one of those times. Riding in the dark countryside is awesome, when you're in a group, and have a half-decent light.

three weeks pass...

315 miles for May. Still below average, though I did have some lovely town riding last weekend in the sunshine. And tomorrow's night ride to Whitstable will kick off June with a handy 80 mile boost.

one month passes...

Record-breaking July for me: 524 miles. This also includes my new record for a week: 224 miles (not counting a few cycling holidays when I was a teenager when I probably did more than this).

Garmin stats:
Count: 17 Activities
Distance: 521.29 mi
Time: 30:53:13 h:m:s
Elevation Gain: 6,397 m (or 20,987 feet if you prefer)
Avg Speed: 16.9 mph

However, it's even better than that because I didn't ride until 5th July so I can keep adding to that total until Saturday to get a 'month' - at the moment I'm on 592 miles for the last 30 days so I should be able to bump that over the 600-mark.

I'm very pleased with that, but my mind boggles when I realise that Krakow does double this every month on a unicycle riding up Ben Nevis in the snow.

Topped it. Now at 720 miles for the last 30 days; 224 for this week (so far); 325 for this month so far (which would get me well over 900 for the whole month if I carried out at that rate). Will be off the bike for about a fortnight shortly, though.

~900km ~9000m climbing can't be more exact due to some gamrin screwups this month. Good month, though.

Just 241 for October. I'll need to do 300 per month for November and December if I'm to reach my target of 4,000 for the year.

I can probably scrape together 100km if I include bike share rides in London and Melbourne, a ride to the DMV, going to work and a jaunt to a pub near cambridge. I have already nearly done that much this weekend.

American Fear of Pranksterism (Ed), Sunday, 4 November 2012 14:14 (eleven years ago) link

damn, "posts that hint at the poster's rich, fun-packed, fulfilling life outside of ilx"

yeah, i've probly got about 30 junk miles to put on top of the 297 just going to the railstation and dr/rehab appointments. but if my miles aren't garminized, they don't count.

I thought I'd be able to pack a decent bit of riding in over the Christmas holiday, but the seemingly relentless record-breaking shit weather put paid to that.

233 miles for December.
3,800 exactly for the year.

A Yawning Chasm (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Tuesday, 1 January 2013 18:48 (eleven years ago) link

Strava has me at 3353km on the road, heavily weighted to the back end of the year, over 3000km June to the end. There's probably ~5000km including riding on the trainer which doesn't count but sets me a nicely attainable goal of 5000km on the road for the 2013.

35901m climbed as well

22.5km/h average speed for the year

I see through your cunning ruse of measuring your 'rides' in kilometres to make the distance sound greater. I would like to re-report my total for January: I covered approximately 90 million inches last month.

A Yawning Chasm (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Friday, 1 February 2013 13:48 (eleven years ago) link

I always report in kilometres, it's the global standard, miles are obtuse and archaic. Back in my teenage touring days I started using kilometres because maps are in kilometres and it makes navigation easier.

At work, if engineers want to wind me up they show me graphs in lbf or Foot Pounds, it owrks so I probably need to get out more.
