can't figure out how to google this for the life of me. i've seen a lot of websites doing this now: i want to have a bunch of thumbnail images on one section of a website, and when you click one of the thumbnails, the full size image pops up in the same window on top of the rest of the page, preferably with arrows to flip between all the pictures and a little 'x' to close the gallery. pretty much in the exact style facebook has adopted somewhat recently, to name a common example, though i've seen better implementations of the same idea on other sites. can anyone point me in the direction of code that does this, or at the least, better search terms than "image pop up viewer code" or any of the thousand permutations along those lines that i've tried? thanks to y'all

wow, quick reply, thanks! that happens to be a very sharp looking gallery thing, though it doesn't look like it's what i'm trying to find. i should mention that the page the pics are on isn't at all just a page of photos, there are only a handful of pics amongst a bunch of other content, and i want people to be able to click on them and look without leaving the site.

i'm no sort of expert but i think this thing is known as a 'lightbox' viewer - using that as a term might help you refine yr googling.
