vw id3 costs half as much in china as america, prob not exactly the same car but still

lag∞n, Thursday, 17 August 2023 13:22 (two years ago)

took me a while to realise that the thing that looks odd about electric cars is the lack of a front grill - don't need a radiator so don't need a grill. but designers haven't fully embraced this yet so they are still the same general shape.

koogs, Thursday, 17 August 2023 21:20 (two years ago)

Yeah, that took me a second too.

Tesla in front of us the other day just tooooookk ooffffffff down the freeway. I also always forget, oh yeah, they can do that.

Wild stat from that report— there are now nearly 300 million electric motorcycles/scooters/2-3 wheelers on the road worldwide and they are displacing four times as much oil demand as all the electric cars in the world so far. https://t.co/3Ox0K6w7rQ

out-of-print LaserDisc edition (sleeve), Tuesday, 12 September 2023 01:59 (two years ago)

i’ve seen it claimed the opposite (that less than 4 wheeled electric vehicles displace walking and public transit, not gas car rides) but i am biased and will take it

, Tuesday, 12 September 2023 01:59 (two years ago)

imagine if we had infrastructure for these small e vehicles like we do for cars

lag∞n, Tuesday, 12 September 2023 02:03 (two years ago)

Now if we could make generic/open-source e-bike designs, parts, etc to drive the prices down...

Elvis Telecom, Tuesday, 12 September 2023 07:04 (two years ago)

i noticed the local police motorbikes are now electric - one went past me yesterday and all i could hear was the chain drive, no motor noise.

koogs, Wednesday, 13 September 2023 08:35 (two years ago)

My son's school bus is now electric. So much for 11 years of knowing when the bus is coming by sound.

tesla cut prices again + blamed missing Q3 delivery estimates because of 'factory downtime' for upgrades

i dunno sounds like to me people aren't buying teslas

feel like the usa might be maxing out its current ev market

lag∞n, Monday, 9 October 2023 15:51 (two years ago)

tho obvs thatll grow as people get more comfortable with evs and new tech comes online and ultimately new regs force people to buy evs

lag∞n, Monday, 9 October 2023 15:52 (two years ago)

who knows how tesla will hold up tho, they dont seem to be doing good with keeping their fleet up to date, seemingly been putting most of their energy towards increasing manufacturing capacity, and now looking oversupplied

lag∞n, Monday, 9 October 2023 15:55 (two years ago)

Deliveries of the updated and higher-priced Model 3 compact sedan are expected to start in the fourth quarter, while a Cybertruck launch event is also planned later this year.

oh a cybertruck launch event ok

lag∞n, Monday, 9 October 2023 15:57 (two years ago)

cybertruck will definitely reverse this trend

, Monday, 9 October 2023 16:26 (two years ago)

i still dont understand how the cybertruck is supposed to meet auto safety standards, all those sharp corners, do they crumple etc

lag∞n, Monday, 9 October 2023 16:31 (two years ago)

safety standards are a symptom of the woke mind virus, wake up sheeple

come on barbo let’s go parpo (bizarro gazzara), Monday, 9 October 2023 16:34 (two years ago)

the word “planned” possibly an overstatement

Tracer Hand, Monday, 9 October 2023 16:35 (two years ago)

anyone walking in front of one of those is gonna end up planed

close encounters of the third knid (darraghmac), Monday, 9 October 2023 16:37 (two years ago)

safety standards long since stopped being about peds, they are about protecting car occupants from other cars

, Monday, 9 October 2023 17:26 (two years ago)

people luuuv the fake gearshifts

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1N81QvAJRkI

Tracer Hand, Wednesday, 11 October 2023 21:39 (two years ago)

my gas car has fake gear shifts, it has a cvt that is programmed to pretend to shift periodically, very silly

lag∞n, Wednesday, 11 October 2023 21:56 (two years ago)

lol what

out-of-print LaserDisc edition (sleeve), Wednesday, 11 October 2023 21:59 (two years ago)

im sorry you had to find out about this

lag∞n, Wednesday, 11 October 2023 21:59 (two years ago)

madness

out-of-print LaserDisc edition (sleeve), Wednesday, 11 October 2023 22:00 (two years ago)

even more ridiculous, it has paddle shifters, on a subaru outback, with a cvt, lmao

lag∞n, Wednesday, 11 October 2023 22:01 (two years ago)

TS: fake shifting vs. fake interior engine noise

Elvis Telecom, Wednesday, 11 October 2023 22:04 (two years ago)

YOU DON'T NEED ALL THAT SHIT.

pplains, Thursday, 12 October 2023 15:13 (two years ago)

Can I have a new iMac that plays the whole dial-up modem sequence whenever I log on, thank yo.

pplains, Thursday, 12 October 2023 15:13 (two years ago)

what about a car with a dual clutch thats too good it shifts so quickly and accurately that you barely notice its happening so the manufacturer programs it to shift more dramatically the levels of which you can control through the cars infotainment system, just an idea i had not sure if it exists probably does tho

i’ve never wanted any form of self driving but there may not be much of a choice soon.

How a robotaxi crash got Cruise’s self-driving cars pulled from Californian roads

Josh in Chicago, Sunday, 29 October 2023 23:54 (two years ago)

im not against self driving as an idea, it could make the roads safer and prob some self driving ish features already have, but! these car companies are straight up beta testing this shit on us

lag∞n, Monday, 30 October 2023 00:14 (two years ago)

I can't even handle being in my friend's Tesla when it treats a bus lane like the edge of a cliff
